Congrats to our VZW Moto X brothers/sisters who are getting this update, this is awesome news!
Personally, I think Moto did this on purpose, so as to send a message-- if they can get 4.4 running on their new flagship before OTA Nexus updates and GPE devices, on VZW of all carriers you know something is right.
Looking forward to the GSM releases, which clearly aren't far behind, given all the leaks.
Interesting to think that if this update would have included the launcher and dialer maybe we would not be getting this update today.
I like the update. You notice small things that make things much better. I am off Nova for now and going to run stock for the next couple days. Maybe I won't go back. We shall see.
Things I liked right away:
-Location in drop down menu now
-Transparent bar at the bottom. Makes the screen seem larger
-"home" now in settings and allows you to easily pick a launcher
-Tap and pay
-New icons and white theme look nice
-New additions to lock screen are welcomed
I am hearing that maybe Google just needs to push an update to the Wallet app for the "tap to play" feature to work. Because if you side load the .apk from the Nexus 5...the feature will show up on your moto x.
It's not a Nexus 5 exclusive. It works great on my Nexus 4.
Also, you guys got the OTA before the Nexus 4
Fortunately I'm too impatient and flashed the factory images last week. But I think Motorola may be my next phone in a year or two when I replace my N4.
Got the update. Some pretty nice features on the update.
So far I've noticed the battery life to drain faster. Hopefully it's just the battery trying to calibrate itself. also noticed you can't add widgets by long pressing the home screen.
I might be wrong, but I'm thinking that feature is part of the Google experience launcher?
Can anyone with the ota confirm if the normal Verizon bloat is there? It's not a big deal to me but I thought that I read somewhere that there wasn't any or there was less?

Yeah, I'm not overly worried just yet. I know I did play a lot after the update so figured the battery was going to take a hit. All charged up and ready to see what today brings, now that I should be back to normal-ish use.
Mine was down to 76% but I had also done the first update, then KitKat after actually doing initial configuration of the thing. Charging now, we'll see how it goes but I'll be playing with it more than normal while I finish getting it set up tonight.
ok, what's the deal with that little top-hat video/game deal? I'm not getting too involved in it at work, I'm up to where the egg falls from the nest onto the bear's nose.

I fully charged mine now. Seems battery drain is back to normal from jb. It's weird though sometimes the battery charge will go up when I stop using it for awhile.

Yes, Google changed that in KitKat. The explanation was two fold: first, people never understood the difference between a white and tinted icon. The second was that showing network activity in the status bar icon was using enough CPU that it was worth scrapping.
If you pull down the notification panel and press the settings icon in the upper right, I believe that the WiFi and mobile network icons will be tinted when you are connected to Google services and will also show network activity. (That's the case with KitKat on the Nexus 5; I don't have a Moto X with KitKat to see at the moment.)
