Hi,

I'm trying to unlock my Rezound. When I enter fastboot oem get_identifier_token it just continually says waiting for device. I found this old thread through Google (http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/509695-root-stuck-waiting-device.html), and I was hoping you could further help me with the same issue. The thread is over a year old, so I didn't want to bump it.

I have debugging on, fastboot off, and it's in charge only. A serial number is listed when I run adb devices, but, once in fastboot, it no longer shows up when I run fastboot devices.

I've uninstalled the HTC/Verizon programs, can you list any other common programs that might be attempting to communicate with the phone?

The unrevoked link was dead, but I installed the drivers in your post (it was an exe so no issues there) and Windows say that those are up to date.

Have there been any changes over the last year (OTA updates or something) that might have changed anything since that post?

Sorry to take up your time, I'm just banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work.

Thanks

for starters,try these troubleshooting tips:
troubleshooting connectivity issues:
-try a reboot of the PC
-try different usb cables and ports
-dont use a usb hub
-dont use usb 3.0
-make sure nothing capable of comunicating with the phone is enabled and running. htc sync, pdanet, easy tether, and even itunes have all been known to cause issues.
-windows 8 has been known to have issues. try a windows 7 or older machine

failing the above,
-i use these drivers for fastboot and adb(donwload and run as admin): http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe (mirror)

failing that, try manually updating the drivers in the following manner:
-put the phone in fastboot mode(select fastboot from the hboot menu)
-open device manager on the PC
-plug in phone, watch for it to pop up in device manager.
-update drivers with device manager, pointing the wizard to the extracted
driver download folder from above

note that you can check the connectivity of the phone, and make sure drivers are working by in the following manner:
-open cmd window. change to directory containing adb/fastboot utilities

-adb with the phone in the booted OS,usb debug enabled, enter:
adb devices in a cmd window

-fastboot with phone in fastboot,enter:
fastboot devices in cmd window

in either case,a properly connected phone with working drivers installed should report back the phones serial number.

Hello scotty, been a looooong time since I hit ya up ;)

So long story short:
-moved on to the Note 3 so haven't messed around with rooting the Rezound for a while (couple months at least, & nope! Haven't looked at rooting the Note 3. heh)

-mom decided to "move on" to smartphones... she wants my old Rezzie...

-Problem 1: It's well, "stuck" on a rom: I flashed this rom--> 【ROM】【4.4_r1.2】【UNOFFICIAL】CyanogenMod 11.0【11-24-13】【GPL】 - xda-developers

-- everything went smoothly, rom loaded wonderfully but the Gapps I downloaded was a bad zip and so now Rezound is "stuck" on literally nothing. I can't load/get past the uh, first bootup screen of whatever (google) launcher it was trying to load because there are no apps to load it (keeps saying "no app installed").

-- I can answer the phone fine, wifi's all good, messages can be received, settings menu can be accessed but it's literally a "vanilla" phone.

-Problem 2: I'm on Windows 8.1 & so recognizing my device is a HASSLE. I was able to resolve driver issues via exchanging Microsoft Drivers for the Intel drivers but now, my phone can't even be recognized in ADB (but was able to install the CM rom via this method in the very beginning).

-- I think it's because the rom is so... "vanilla" and I can't access USB debugging settings that the phone isn't recognized. If so, a Win7 comp probably won't fix this :'(

-- I have the rom still in the root sd card along with the Gapps .zip file. Is there any way I can install this rom + Gapps via stock Rezound recovery? I don't have any custom recovery whatsoever, just pure stock rezound. & no USB/PC access.

-Am on... the old firmware (Hboot 2.27, i think) I've only been fastboot boot-ing roms not perm. installing anything on this Rez so, I'm pretty stock.

I kinda wish I HAD flashed Amon-ra permanently now :)

Last but not least, is the JuopunutBear's method of s-offing still working?

Thank you for sticking around here, scotty. It's awesome you're still here!

[Edit]: The comp can recognize my phone as a USB Mass Storage device and I can move things in/out of the sd card. It just won't recognize it via ADB & fastboot :(

First thing you can try is to bring up the hidden developer options menu. Just tap the build number in settings/about phone several times and you should get a message "congratulations you're a developer now" and you'll be able to access USB debugging.

Failing that, just put the phone into fastboot manually, and see if the phone is recognized there. If so boot your recovery normally and flash a stockish rom :)

Jpbear is still working, but you'll need to create an ubuntu live cd to run it. You may even have another option. Rumrunner works on many newer HTC phones, including the s3 variation of the HTC one s

thanks for that tip, scotty. No idea you could hit dev settings with that technique!

I actually got it "working" sort of... I'm IN, but now I just gotta get Gapps installed. I was able to sideload a file explorer with sum root access so... I'm gonna try extracting the Gapps zip file, hook it up onto a comp and push the files into their proper places. We'll see if that works.

or i'll just try the Ubuntu thing. I've got it dual-booting in an old comp somewhere :) Or vmware that.

Or I'll just hit up amazon & buy an official usb cord. This rom is AWESOME though. I think I'll keep. I'm guessing my mom doesn't care about the "latest" roms lol

Thanks once again, scotty!
