What is motorolaOTA update? also KitKat update advice sought

Welcome to Android Forums.

The OTA (Over the Air) is the system update from Jelly Bean to Kit Kat.

OTAs are pushed out by the carriers to phones. They are staggered from one user to another because they are so large and the carrier is trying not to bury the network. (Every phone has a unique registration number so the carrier knows where each one is.)

It arrives on your phone and then asks (repeatedly) for permission to install.

If you grant permission your system is updated ant the OTA distribution is deleted.

It is strongly recommended that you do a Factory Data Reset after installing any OTA of a Major system upgrade (like Jelly Bean to Kit Kat).

If you decide not to install the OTA it will continue to beg permission to do so. The only way I have ever heard to stop it is to root your phone and rename the distribution file (I have never done that myself).
