Android 4.4.2 KitKat confirmed for Galaxy S3

I rooted and was able to do it with a version of 4.3 without Knox. However, the WiFi tether app that worked so well no longer would work (TrevE version) and FoxFi did absolutely NOTHING. I am with Sprint. I did find a work around. Its a permanent change to the stock sprint tethering app which would ordinarily be a service you pay for. It works flawlessly. Thing is... I don't want to root. for now I'm going to stay with version 4.1.2
AT&T is very bad about the tethering bit. Just plain greedy. I pay full bore for data service, so that is not right. And why I quiting them in March 2015 when my contract is up and switching to Verizon who has far better coverage anyways. As a pro photographer, I'm in the mountains a and need connectin up there and AT&T has NO connections in the mountains.

Cellular providers have to charge extra for wireless hotspots because people think they have a cable modem in there pocket. :p

Unfortunately, It's how our country is run now a days. For the fee many of us pay for our bills, It should be standard.

Greed.

Years ago I had Charter Communications for cable, Now I have Verizon Fios...Anyways, I noticed a new charge on my paper bill for a small amount of like 25 or so cents. I called inquiring and the rep explained to me it was a fee to process and mail me my bill.. I promptly cut her off and told her to send someone out to pick up their stuff. She replied, Really Sir? It's ONLY 25 cents...Wrong answer young lady. I was livid, and asked her just how much money they make off their how many millions of customers off this "Insignificant", Measly 25 cents...Ultimately she waived it. They're all crooks. If they tacked on 5 or 10 cents on everyones bill, You'd never know it and they just made millions off ya.

we have to replace our router/modem combo from charter because it stopped working. the problem is it was free but they phased them out and went back to a seperate modem and wireless router. the modem is free but the router is rented for $5.... hmmmm sounds a little sketchy to me...

It's just another way to make money off you mate. Stuff like this gets under my skin. FWIW, Verizon Fios, if available has the modem/router unit which makes things a lot easier.

Finally, You have to understand these companies WANT you, Only if your uncontracted...Once your contracted their tune certainly changes with service. With Verizon I got into it with the rep just last month about my remotes. One went bad after probably 6 years and they wanted me to pay 14.99 for a remote..However I was out of contract then...So I told them to pick up their stuff. He ultimately convinced me into a new, Much cheaper contract for 2 years...But I also told him that deal is not happening unless I get 4 new remotes for the set top boxes I do have in my house...No problem Sir. Their argument was the remotes are disposable unlike boxes that can be repaired.

XM radio is another one...Those guys OMG with their pricing...Calm down Larzuk, Lol.

I don't want to keep this thread derailed, But I'll leave you with the advice of play hardball with any company you deal with...Threaten to cancel, and most often than not I've been able to get somewhere with them.

I'd be hugely surprised if the S3 doesn't get the kitkat update. This thing hasn't run as well since updating to kitkat so surely Samsung, with their huge tech knowledge and money clout behind them, can get 4.4 to run on this thing.

If these indie devs making these ROMs off of people's donations can do it then they sure as hell can

Lol it was a dude who goes into the mountains to photograph and was saying verizon is the only carrier with coverage there :)
G+ is Google+. Google's social networking site/app
(it has some good photography communitys)

That is correct... I was up in Glazier National Park, Mt Rainier, Baker Mountain, Jasper, Olympic mountains and Cascades the past couple years with NO connection, even at the base of the mountains and I seen people talking on their cell phones... I asked several who their carrier was and you guessed it: Verizon!

Hey, you got a link to those photography communities? I've never fooled with G+ thinking it was like FB & Twitter which is mostly gossip centers.

Without wanting to take the thread too far off topic lol (i have a terrible habit of this), just go onto g+, go to "communities" and search "photography" and youll find a lot. Im not a photographer but i follow an HDR one "HDR Photography" because theres some really nice pics.
The communities are the best part of g+ imo. Im mostly a member of the android and tech ones. Its nothing like facebook lol i dont even have any of my real friends on g+. Everyone i follow there is because they share an interest and post interesting things.
The g+ android app is really clean and efficient and i never use the desktop version so i dont know how good that is :)
EDIT i just searched "wildlife photography" in communities and theres a couple with thousands of members
