The Official Accessory Thread

I'm looking for an armored case for my Nexus. I work in construction, and deal with a lot of metal dust and flake, concrete, sawdust etc. I need something pretty rugged,,but not to the extreme of an otter box :)

My biggest concern is the metal dust. Every phone I use at work accumulates a lot of it, and I have to use a small magnet to collect it from the earpiece and ext speaker a couple of times a week. I see a Future Armor case on eBay that people seem to like, maybe some of you in the field can confirm that its decent or recommend something better?

EDIT: A case I bought from MetroPCS for my Valiant. I would love it if I could find something like this for my Nexus. Kickstand and sliding holsters are things I really don't need, but more importantly, the silicone port flaps on this particular case did an amazing job at keeping the debris out. Still searching around Amazon and eBay, it sucks that the port covers aren't really a hot keyword in a search :(

Thx IA!! ~spec

Just received the LG official quick case. A little expensive for a case but it fits really well, doesn't add much bulk to the phone and looks really smart:thumbup:

Edit: going to throw this out there, but I think there is a design fault with the official quick cover from LG. There is an hole on the front cover that when closed allows you to see the ear-mic. Why do we need this? Obviously the case would be open when recieving/making calls! Shouldn't the hole not be down the bottom so we can see the notification light when it is closed?

A mate of mine just got the spigen slim armour and it's really nice :) it is marginally thicker than the neo hybrid that I have but I think it looks and feels really good. The buttons felt fantastic (I know some people have had issues with the buttons but on his they felt great and were extremely responsive). I'm thinking about grabbing one in either gold or red.

my current case...although you can't use OTG with it on, it does help the battery life when you're out and about

i-Blason Google Nexus 5 Battery Case - PowerGlider Rechargeable External Battery Full Protection Case

Amazon.com: i-Blason Google Nexus 5 Battery Case - PowerGlider Rechargeable External Battery Full Protection Case AT&T, Sprint, Verizon. T-Mobile: Cell Phones & Accessories

I had that case and returned it. It did not work well.

I am waiting for this battery case to come out:

I ordered a gold Slim Armor last night!

Spigen SGP LG Google Nexus 5 Cover Case Slim Armor | ULTRA STORE

This is the same store I got my neo hybrid from, they seem to have the best prices on Spigen stuff for Australian stores and they shipped my last case really fast so any Aussies looking for Nexus 5 stuff check them out.

How does the neo compare? I need to get some cases and I keep hearing spiegen, but there's so many cases that I'm just confused all the time

The neo is nice, it's a little thinner than the slim but once you get used to the feel of it in your hand it's fine.

The back scratches up pretty easy but that's going to happen with that matt finish tpu material. The buttons work great and I think it looks really stylish.

I haven't got the slim yet but my mate has one in black and it looks and feels really nice.

The RINGKE SLIM.

Have you been able to compare it to the similar spiegen ones?

PS: My best screen protector is.........nothing. I hate them all; I've tried several. I will stick with the awesome GG screen on the N5. It's more durable than you think.

This is my next question - my n4 supposedly had GG but I still managed to scratch the front easily, and I'm pretty sure of the cases I used managed to scratch up the back too. So is it likely that a screen protector is worth getting on the 5?

I've only ever used the Zagg ones for my LG Cookie (all them years ago) and that was the worst thing imaginable. I'm hearing lots of things about spiegen, mediadevil and some tempered glass ones...

Which, if any, is the best for clarity, feel/responsiveness and anti-smudge etc?

I got the ZeroLemon Zero Shock case. It is a rugged case with an extended battery (3500 mah). It feels like it will protect the phone very well and if the battery performs good this thing is a winner. The trade off is that it is big but I don't mind it for what you get.

Amazon.com: [180 Day Warranty] Zerolemon Lg Google Nexus 5 3500mah Extended Battery + Zeroshock Black/black Dual Layer Rugged Case + Screen Protector + Holster/kickstand: Cell Phones & Accessories

What is the screen protector like? Does it chnge the characteristics of the screen? Does it make the screen response to touch any different. Does it make the screen look not as bright or as clear?

I generally don't like screen protectors (or cases for that matter) and I get pretty crazy good battery life, but for some situations this is a tempting solution for not having to worry about how soon I can top off. The price is pretty reasonable.
