App for streaming YouTube to a smart tv

A smart TV doesn't have a native YouTube app? Hmm, I figured that would be part of the point of having a smart TV. Anyway, I know Chromecast will work, but that is a hardware / app solution.

The smart tv does have a YouTube app but it is very poor. I have always streamed from my phone until today

Damn, I was going to recommend iMediaShare, but they rebranded that to Flipps.
I've used a few others before, but not in a while. Let me look back and see if I can figure out which ones. BTW, which device are you trying to stream from, the N7 or the sensation? I may be able to try and test with my N7.

Is the reason you don't want to use the native TV app search difficulty? I found a way to use a laptop / phone / tablet for searching and tossing the video to the smart tv app.

That is one reason yes. Also, it doesn't seem to have access to the full YouTube. It's very poor and never updated. I will check that out when I get home thanks

does your smart tv allow mirroring, sometimes known as miracast or it can have different name depending on the make of TV, if yes then you should be able to mirror exactly what is on your n5 to the tv. Mirroring does exactly that, whatever is on your phone screen appears on TV. this can be your phone desktop, phone browser, any game you are playing or film you are watching. My 50 inch Panasonic TV did not do mirroring so I bought a cheap Panasonic media streamer from PC world and this allows it. It is one of the best features I have found on my S3 following the 4.3 update. It is great to play games on the phone and have them on the big screen with sound through surround sound system.
