Root [Virgin Mobile] GS3 Custom ROM troubles! Help!

Recently, I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S III (Virgin Mobile - SPH-L710) and I've tried installing 2 different ROMs; both of which have caused me many problems.

I first tried flashing CyanogenMod Nightly 11 (based off Android 4.4.2) using Philz Touch Recovery, and ParanoidAndroid GApps. They both installed successfully and I was able to set up my phone, but there was one problem: I couldn't connect to the mobile network. It would say I have service and I could occasionally send/receive texts and calls, but I couldn't do anything else unless I was connected to WiFi.

About a day later, I was fed up with not being able to have mobile data available, so I decided to flash a new ROM: CyanFox 2.0.1 (also based off Android 4.4.2). Again, everything worked fine on this ROM except for mobile data.

Any ideas about what might be wrong? Please reply and let me know!

Hello and welcome to the forums . when you go into settings and about phone can you see a imei and phone number . DONT POST ANYTHING just reply if the imei show up or not

If the IMeI is shown try this it fixed the problem I had .

I found the IMEI number, but for my phone number it just says "Unknown" (it's okay though. I know my phone number by now).

I can't follow that tutorial on the XDA dev website that you sent a link to because I don't have the paid version of Titanium Backup (and no, I am not willing to pay $5.99 for it). Any other ideas?

CM11 D2LTE has been known for causing network connectivity issues, like, out the ass.
I did something similar to this Lte Not Working On 20140218 Cm11 D2Lte Nightly - Page 2 - Samsung Galaxy S III (CDMA) Nightly/Experimental - CyanogenMod Forum - Page 2 to get it to work.
Going back to stock and starting from scratch seemed to retain mobile data settings.

I found this .zip file a while back that contains the APN settings necessary to connect to data. I use it every time I flash a custom ROM, which is a lot. If you flash it with a ROM and GAPPS, make sure this is the last .zip you flash.

APN settings: CM-AOSP_D2VMU_APN_LTE_or_3G-MMS_20131016

I should add that I've used this with CM11 and other ROMs also. Hopefully, this will solve your problem.

OK thanks, I'll try that now. Should I do "clean to install new ROM" (under the factory reset option in custom recovery menu), wipe cache partition, wipe dalvik cache, and reinstall my current ROM before flashing that file?

UPDATE: I flashed that and it worked, but only partially. I can go on the internet on mobile data, but I can't text or call people. Does anyone know why? Please let me know!

That's actually very strange. I've never heard of that happening. You might want to do a fresh install of everything with the APN settings as the last thing you install. Also, the CM11 and other Android 4.4.2 nightlies are technically Sprint ROMs and not Virgin Mobile ROMs. I have a .zip file that contains the MD4 modem for Sprint. I always flash this with the 4.4.2 nightlies. Try using it. But make sure it's the first .zip you flash with the APN settings as the last.

1.) Do I need Odin to flash the modem or can I do it in custom recovery?
2.) When I flash the modem, should I do a factory reset and also flash the ROM, gapps, and other zip file for the APN settings?

For #1, you can just flash the .zip using custom recovery. For #2, I would suggest doing a factory rest, then flashing the modem, ROM, GAPPS, and the APN settings in that order.

Okay so I just did a factory restore, wiped cache partition, wiped dalvik cache, flashed the modem .zip file, flashed the rom, flashed the gapps, flashed the APN settings, then did a reboot. And now I think I hard bricked my phone....... it just went to a black screen when I rebooted. Ive tried plugging it in, taking out the battery, turning it back on, and it doesn't do anything. What'd I do wrong???????????? :'(
