Just got ZTE AWE. A few issues/questions....

my LG Optimus V just died so I upgraded to the ZTE AWE. At first I had a big "WOW." So much faster than my old LG. However I'm experiencing a few issues and I'm wondering if they are common to this phone, or I just need to change some settings.

1) The phone does not go into sleep mode all the time as it should. I noticed that if I have a text message open, the screen stays on and it doesn't timeout the screen. Is this a bug, or a setting I can change? I want it to sleep regardless of what is on the screen.

2) It seems to be going into silent mode without me telling it to. A few times I thought maybe I accidentally touched the buttons on the side and inadvertently put it in silent mode, but now it's happened enough times that I think something is going on.

3) When I boot the phone, there is a VERY LOUD splash screen. Even when the phone's volume is low, it seems to play the splash screen video at full volume. In addition to being very loud it is also a very annoying sound that alerts anyone within a 50 foot radius that I am very strange. How can I disable (or at least silence) the short video that splashes when I boot the phone?

thanks for any advice,

I just tested #1 on my Awe by opening a text and leaving the screen on. It went to sleep at the usual 2 minutes. I am unaware of any special setting other than the sleep under the display menu.

I have never experienced #2.

Regarding #3, I always mute my phone before I do a restart and it stays silent during boot-up. If you forget, try covering the speaker in the back with your thumb.

Overall, I am very pleased with my Awe.
