How is your Nexus 7 battery life?

I see a lot of posts about battery life draining faster on the New nexus 7 vs the old one, but when I look up the specs on Asus site, the old Nexus 2012 is listed at 9 hours even though it has a slightly larger capacity battery than the one on the new nexus 2013. The nexus 2013 is listed as 10 hours. So I decide to do my own test by taking note of how long my battery can last after a full charge. On normal usage which consists of web browsing and some youtube videos, I'm getting a good 8-10 hours before I go below 10%, pretty on par with the battery life estimate of 10 hours given by Asus on the Nexus 2013 specifications.

My nexus 7 is the wifi 2013 model. It is rooted but running stock 4.2.2 KitKat.

Tell me about your nexus battery life. Does it hold up as well?

I have the N7 LTE, picked it up Saturday so don't have a lot of time with it. Even with the cellular radio on constantly, battery life seems on par with my 2012 Wi-Fi.

Used it several time yesterday, including streaming music over LTE for 20 our so minutes, watching some YouTube, web browsing, Facebook, etc. I have Exchange with email push, constantly syncing about 10 different folders from our server. Plugged in last night with 44% remaining.

It would be useful to know where your screen brightness setting is at and how long your screen was actually on.

I've had my N7 for 2 weeks and I'm pretty impressed with the battery life. My phone is a Motorola Razr Maxx HD so I value long times between charges. I have gotten almost 45 hours on one charge on my N7, consisting of browsing, listening to music, emailing, with screen brightness at 33% and total screen on time of 4.5 hours after which time battery was at 14%.

I left it at the default auto brightness setting. I've done testing thru several full charges and the battery life is consistently in the 8-10 hour range with 2-3 hours of video playing.

I switched to ART compiler and last time I got 8.5 hours of screen time. Mostly it was web browsing with about 1 hour of youtube.

That's the average number of hours I get from active use. Counting sleep/idle time, the device can last me several days before needing to charge. How is the performance under ART? Did you encounter any problems since the switch?

I don't know how people got 10 hours of battery life, I was never able to get more than 6 hours off the ART. Some apps don't work now such as Nova Launcher. Everything else seems to be fine. I had to reinstall some games as well. I like it, it runs much smoother, apps load much faster.

I use Franco kernel.

I'm running stock android with Dalvik and I can get close to 10 hours of active use.

What do you call an active use? I was able to drain in within few hours playing heavy 3d use games. I was never able to come close to what people report, but I never disable wifi or sync. I never use bluetooth or gps. I mostly use it for browsing internet and watching youtube.

I use the dashclock battery widget to keep track of how many hours my Nexus can run after a reboot. The active use means that it counts the time when the device is being used and not count the time when it is idle/sleep. With normal usage which consists of web browsing, music, videos, I can usually surpass the 9 hour mark with a fully charged battery.

My battery, using a batter compare test, loses 1% in 2.75 hours under standby. If I use Battery Doctor, it estimates about 27 hours standby on battery. (I don't really trust the estimation on battery doctor). It says about 6 hour on videos and other stuff. Is that normal? Plus, it tests that my battery is in "good" health, again, I'm not sure if they are accurate. But if its 27 hours on standby, and 2.75 hours for 1 percent, it kind of doesn't make any sense, if it goes at the same rate, it would be 275 hours? Wouldn't it? Or something close. Weird. Do you think my battery has problems? (As in damaged, problematic, defective) or is it normal?

If all I'm really doing is browsing the web, all day long @ about half brightness.

I've gotten over 8 easily with much dimmer screen.

Over 12hours offline reading...

Gaming is very dependent upon the actual game, of course... but I seem to consistently get at least a solid 6 hours.

Oh yeah, I keep the volume OFF unless I'm watching a video (rare).

Can't elaborate above 12 hours... I plug in over night.

Well I'm on 4.4.2 stock and I'm currently on 1 day, 8 hours and 25 mins. I have 48% left still.
The battery consists of like 30 mins reading daily, 1 hour of gaming and just general web browsing daily. I'm very happy with the Battery life I get. I did manage to get 3 days battery life out of it once with my moderate use. Obviously, there's a lot of standby time along with this.

Screen brightness is on auto
Wifi switches off when in standby mode
Everything I need syncing, syncs throughout the day.
