Huh, wasn't expecting VM to get KK this fast. I'm on 4.1.2 with the FOTA Kill installed, so I didn't get any notifications about it. I'm just going to wait for jdsingle76 to make odexed or deodexed stock roms, when he has the time that is.
The beauty is that when an official 4.4 rom comes out, developers use it as a basis for creating stable roms. This means no messing with APNs, no special downloads to improve compatibility. Means the roms will work better out of the box.
He was able to see it on the 4.4 KK thread, haha. Strangely, I prefer the stock rom more than custom. I was on CM 7 back in my Optimus V times and random custom in EVO V.
I know we're on the heels of an official 4.4.2 update for d2vmu (that's Virgin Mobile GS3, for those who didn't know). But I just read that when Android 4.4.3 comes out, Samsung is rumored that it will update many phones in the Galaxy family, including the GS3, to it. According to this article, Samsung may skip the 4.4.2 update for some devices and update directly to 4.4.3. Everything surrounding 4.4.3 is still pretty much rumors, but I think it's exciting that even though the GS3 is 2 years old now, there will be continued development for it. So if you do the whole flashing ROM thing like me or just wait for the official updates, there is a good chance we'll be getting 4.4.3.
Oh man I can honestly predict a future where you're gonna be disappointed with the update bro. Please don't set your hopes too high because everything I've read about the update hasn't been very impressive

I just want better battery life, no stutters, less lag, if I get that I'll be happy (plus I plan on selling this during the summer and getting that beautiful HTC one m8)
YOU WONT WANTTO UPDATE, IT really sucks, theres no option to switch to art runtime, the scrolling is wonky and weird, also it comes with knox, which is to be avoided at all costs, it is all blue themed like 4.3, it doesn't seem like kitkat, its garbage, if anything, I would jus flash the radio nd8 if and when it has come out.

FYI I was reading on XDA and you can't flash the modem separately if you're phone is already knoxed up on 4.3. Instant brick. You have to flash the entire ND8 update to get the new modem. My phone is still on the MG2 boot loader so I guess it's supposed to work But I've read so many things about lousy LTE signal in fringe areas I think I'll just stay away.

I have the nd8 update, did the tar, then the zip in recovery, after that flashed a few roms, the mk5 one has no data, and when I reverted to the nd8 rom (flashed via revovery philz) I had no data?, what can I do?, can I reflash the nd8 bootloader and all in one pacage from the tar? im scarwed of re flashing the tar because of the bootloader!
OH, and btw xda, doesn't have the modem files (or at least right now at least) I heard they took them down, because of what you said, people bricked trying to flash the new modem on 4.3 build, but im on the 4.4 official build so how would that work?
I'm pretty sure only the nd8 modem will work for you. I don't want to give you any wrong advice but what I would recommend is posting in the S3 Virgin Mobile all things root section.
