I don't think so. I believe that you have to go to Settings>>>Applications then click on the app for which you want to eliminate notifications. Then you can un-check the box for Notifications.

It sure would be nice to have a Settings page that would allow the user to choose which apps could show notifications in the notification bar; much like the way we can choose which apps can appear in active notifications when the screen is off.
