So I gave my wife my old S3. It had the stock 4.3 on it from one of the uploaders....not sure who upped it. Anyways because it did not have the stock firmware on it......it was not able to OTA update.

I placed s3 NDC modem update folder on the phone and downloaded it from zip via recovery mode. I used phil touch recovery btw. I had the back of the phone off for whatever reason because I was being lazy about powering off. Well it went back to the main menu and i turned the phone over to hit reboot phone and next thing I know the phone will not power up at all.

I have tried the following
1. plug the phone in the wall (phone is already 70% charged btw)
2. attempted to power on by holding just power
3. attempted to power on by going into recovery mode
4. attempted to power on by going into download mode
5. attempted to power on by not having it plugged in

only advance I made was plugged it into the pc with no battery and the red LED indicator light came on until I put the battery back in.

I really need to get my wifes phone back for her because now she is pissed at me. I lost my touch with phones and need some major help guys. I don't know wtf I did.......all of this hassle because she was annoyed by the OTA update kept on popping up on the phone. Everytime I went to update, it would flash into the custom recovery and not update so she was getting pissed. I knew I shouldn't have messed with it. please please help

thanks,
knox

Bro, please don't say that you tried to flash the modem or update with Philz recovery. If you did you've probably bricked the phone. The phone has to have the 4.4.2 update flashed with Odin. The NDC modem zip cannot be flashed on the 4.3 bootloader

There have been a few people try to flash just the NDC modem on 4.3 and they bricked their phone.

If you can't get into download mode you're pretty much stuck. There is one thread that Shabby created. You can post there and see if he may be able to help you.

If you can get into download mode then you'll be ok and this thread will help you. It has the link to the stock Boost NDC tar which you'll need to flash with Odin. If you have questions regarding the process , post in this thread.

I hope you are able to recover your phone bro. If you can get into download mode I'll help if I can.

thanks biker.....I went out and bought the SD card. I was hoping there was an easy fix then again......now what is really easy these days. I am praying this will work

EDIT - So wait....IF I get this back online....what is my next step? BEFORE I messed up the device, it had the "stock" 4.3 on it. As soon as I flashed the modem which I thought you had to do via recovery, it bricked? What is my first step lol....been out of the game too long. This is why I haven't touched my S5. I am leaving it be.....no root no nothing.

Can you get into download mode? If so you have dodged a bullet!

You will want to download and flash the NDC update with Odin and then let the phone boot up. You'll then want to use Odin again to flash the new version of Philz.

Once you've done all that, I recommend flashing either the Wicked-X ROM or Conquest. Both are excellent TouchWiz based ROMS. These ROMS are already rooted so you won't need to root the phone. Flashing a rooted ROM will do that for you.

Post and let me know what's up.

My major concern is if you can get into download mode.

OK. I went back and re-read your OP. If I understand correctly you are not able to access download mode at all.

I just came from Shabby's thread and he posted that there is a Windows method he is going to post. That's going to help out if you're not familiar with Linux.

If anyone can help you recover your phone, Shabby can.

I wish you the best and hope you are able to save your phone.

well it was def not the battery :(.........now i am at a loss.....don't know what the next step is besides taking a hammer to it

Just gonna go out on a limb here. Does your phone by chance have any warranty left? If so, you can send it to Samsung and they'll fix it. You're good to go as long as the phone doesn't boot up. They'll replace the motherboard more than likely .

would i be able to send it to samsung still?? It had superuser still on it so they would know I obviously rooted it.

When a phone won't even boot they don't bother checking what's on it. I've know of several people who have sent in rooted S3's and Samsung has fixed them free of charge.

It has to be under warranty though.

My other suggestion would be to find a reputable phone repair shop and see if they can save it.
