Help Auto reject calls with message?

Hello,

I'm using a Galaxy S3 I747 running Jelly Bean 4.1.1.

I found an Auto Call Rejection setting and wanted to test it. Specifically, I wanted to test the secondary setting "Set Reject Messages."

The way it's meant to work, if I understand correctly, is that when a call comes in that's on your reject list (or if you reject all), the caller gets a message such as "I'm driving" or "I'm busy."

All the instructional articles and videos I've seen say to open the phone app, go to Call Settings, select "Set Reject Messages," and CHOOSE a message or type in my own.

The key word is choose. When I navigate to "Set Reject Messages," there's a list of pretyped rejection messages and a space to type in my own - but there's no way to CHOOSE one. If I tap on a message, it simply opens up the message in edit mode. I can save it, but that only saves the message. It doesn't turn anything on, so to speak. I tried a long tap, but nothing happened at all. There's no radio button or select box.

I can turn on Auto Reject, but all it does is send calls to my voice mail. I don't understand how to use these messages. I tried going to regular settings and turning on Blocking Mode, but that didn't make it work either. It's really not a big deal, I'm not all that fussed about using it - it just bugs me that the feature is there and I can't figure out how to make it work.

<edit> Oh - and, since I'm such a newbie, can a kind person please tell me whether I should have posted this under General instead of Support? - thanks.

Hello Sue!
When a person calls you and the phone is ringing, the screen should have the option to reject call with message. When you pull that up, all your message option come up and you can choose it from there whilst the phone is ringing. :)

Edit: oh, and "support" is fine;)

Thanks. That doesn't mean that I have to do it for each call, does it? That would defeat the point of it being "auto" anything. Does it mean that I have to wait for an incoming call in order to set up the auto reject feature that will then be in effect until I turn it off? That seems needlessly convoluted; I think they could have implemented that much better.

No, once you set up your reject messages, and turn that option on, every time a phone call comes in, you have the option to pick a message to reject that call with. follow?
I hope I understood your question correctly:)

The "add to auto reject list" you're talking about might be different than your original question. My S4 has the option to build a list, and add numbers to it as they call, of people I don't wish to speak to - ever. It "automatically rejects" them.

You have the ability to set up a separate voice mail answering for those calls. For example spam callers. They get automatically forwarded to the "special" message you've created.

I edited this to add that I don't have any 3rd party anything. I have AT & T and the phone does it without an extra charge, but that might be my plan.
