I'm on vacation so it's really important for my phone to work. No one else is having trouble, including our other straight talk phone. Only this one. If I reboot it comes back briefly but sometimes it's taking several reboots. I can't call, text or get online when it happens. Any ideas? I'm using the 7-13 build of DU with the Franco kernel #57.

What baseband/radio version are you using?
I was using the 4.4.4 KTU84P radio and was having issues. I flashed back to the 4.4.3 KTU84M radio and my reception has been much better.

Check to make sure you have your APN correct. Go to Settings>under Wireless & Newtworks click More>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. I have ATT LTE checked for my mobile share plan. I was having the same issues as you are so hopefully this will solve it. BTW Thanks to the users of this forum who first posted this.

I use straight talk so I'm using the ST apn. I'll check that out though.

That's the one I have (the first one). How do I switch? Do I need to flash the rom again or just the radio?

I was having the same problem since i got the 4.4.4 update until last night i unlocked my bootloader. you just have to flash a new radio either from a older version like 4.4.2 . i flashed the radio from the Android L Dev Preview and now my phone is working better. So go flash a different radio;)

Where can I download the file for the radio? I'm not near a pc so I have to do it all on my phone.

Go to the link that Incakola posed with the N5 modems/radio's from Autoprime.
There are 2 versions for each radio listed.... There's a radio.img file, which you flash through fastboot and there is a radio.zip file which you flash through recovery.
Download the .zip file of the radio that you want to use on your phone.
Then boot to recovery, click on install, navigate to where the radio.zip file is saved (/sdcard/downloads/ folder usually) select the radio.zip and flash the radio. There is no need to wipe anything at all, just flash the radio.zip.
Reboot your N5 and profit!

I did it but how do I make sure the right radio version is installed? when I go to about phone, it still shows the du_hammerhead-userdebug 4.4.4 KTU84P 09251c15c6 test-keys under "build number".

The radio is listed under "Baseband Version" in about phone. the 4.4.4 radio, for instance,is M8974A-2.0.50.1.16

You can find the Baseband numbers for all the radios in the list in the first post here:
