Nexus 5 repair question?

I need to have my earpiece speaker replaced on my Nexus 5. It is under LG Warranty. Anyone have experience with sending an phone to lg? I've read some bad things. I could attempt it myself as it doesn't look too difficult or pay $50 at a local cell repair place but who knows how good they are?

In the UK they send you a pre paid parcel bag with a jiffy. If it's a warranty job there's no charge, if they find damaged caused by you they'll let you know it'll be chargeable. Got mine back in 6 working days. I sent mine back with GPS issues, they replaced the back cover.
Not a bad experience for me :)

I'm a bit late, but I just received my n5 back from LG, for a screen replacement (not warranty, shattered). In my case I had to pay for shipping to LG (tracking and sig required). The tracking page they have is updated fairly quickly, and email notices came quick too, ie "it's not covered under warranty, how do you want to pay?" kind of email. I talked to LG reps at the start of the process (to get an RMA) and to pay after they looked at it, it was painless and quick. I have to give a kudo to them as it as a fairly painless experience, except for being without a phone for 10 days. They did ship it back via fedex home, and it looks like it was by truck based on the fedex tracking page. The repair facility is in Fort Worth TX, I am in Minneapolis, fwiw.

Thanks for the input. I sent mine back and it was received yesterday by LG. Tracking shows the unit being repaired already. I assume it is a warranty repair because they never asked for a payment. All looks OK so far.

Update: got my phone back today and it was a complete waste of time! I made the repair request due to a bad ear piece speaker and even wrapped a note around my phone stating such. LG took it upon themselves to remove my glass screen protector (not sure why) and replace the vibrator in my phone which worked perfect! Of course they never replaced my ear piece speaker and my phone is the same as when I shipped it in! Talk about incompetence! Now they want me to send it back again and be without a phone for another 2 weeks! No thanks! I ordered the speaker from eBay and will fix it myself like I should have done in the first place!

Ouch

I have even more appreciation for googles warranty service then.

Glad you got it all sorted in the end
