Root [MetroPCS] Hotspot stopped working

I use my mobile hotspot on cm11 v9 with no problems yet. I am also on the 60$ plan (no hotspot allowed ;-) ) and consume anawful lot of data like GT. In the past, on various ROMs, I have noticed at times if you change the ssid and set to open, which yes it leaves you vulnerable to an extent, it will sometimes work also. I activate it only with the hotspot widget by Fattin Hotspot Network. Nowim not saying it will even work for anyone, just my personal experience in the past. Let me known if it does though just to confirm it may be a possible fix.

testing everything out as well, I was running rooted stock, 60/month and tether stopped working. (Get message to add tether) Which I really wouldn't mind adding, its only $5, but they limit you to 2.5GB of tether only.

Stock Rooted Rom = only worked with pdanet+
Kitkat 4.4.2 Beta 4 = works with agent
Angablade CM11 v9 = works with agent

Unfortunately, I need to use the stock rom because my back camera doesn't work with any of the custom roms :/

So I have to choose between wireless tether or camera.

Just small suggestion
How bout being tethered with the new phone
and just use an old phone for just like games pics and multimedia type things
this way you can choose to tether to the old phone and this way enjoy best of both worlds just for thought? :D

Do you pay for it or do you use a widget or program to activate the mobile hotspot? Do you have to be rooted? I do not want want to add it to my bill.. they charge me 10$ to add it and the rest $5 for only 2.5gb.

Actually limits you to 2.5gb of 4g and tether, then you get throttled, not sure how correct I am on that. I've never paid for hotspot, so I don't know full details on plan, like whether or not after 2.5gb I'd they cut hotspot off or if you can use it with the throttled speeds.

What ROM are you on?
Tethering stopped on me with mobile hotspot a couple weeks ago. It would show the message about adding plan and I could just keep trying and eventually it would turn on. It then stopped completely and i restored a back up and it started working again. In my opinion there is still work arounds you just have to do it ROM accordingly.

Their plans make no sense:

$40/$50 + tether, you may tether unlimited until you monthly data is up then you'll get throttle down (suppose to be 3G but I got throttled down to 0.1mb/download & upload)

$60 + tether, your phone gets unlimited data (LTE) but tether gets completely cuts off after 2.5GB with optional $5/GB additional usage.

If they actually allowed truly unlimited data and tether, I would pay for it. But since MetroPCS don't, I went that rooted route.

I'm using Agneblade Kitkat 4.4.4 CM11 v9. And my desktop browser is Chrome with Agent Extension set on IE9

This rom feels the most stable, so far. Although my back (main) camera doesn't work. Reading the forums, it's my understand these phone have different model cameras. And I'm unfortunately have the one that doesn't work with any of the roms or tweaks.

If anyone have advice about camera, greatly appreciated.

Currently on Angablade's CM11 v9 rom, $60 plan on metro pcs, using paid FoxFi wifi hotspot works, bluetooth hotspot works also, USB tether through foxfi does not work.

Not sure why anyone expects tether to work if you are on stock rom and not paying the extra 5 dollars?

Its like this
What works for anyone does not mean that it dont work period because of 4 people say it dont. All I can say is I'm sorry it dont work for u bottom line.

On the desktop side use Chrome + Agent Extension (set to IE9)
