Is the Samsung rebate on preorders legit?

For Best Buy, as long as no water damage, cracks and powers on you are good.

For carriers the trade in has to be at least $10 value by the carrier.

My Incredible is only $5, so a fail for carrier/Samsung terms, but Best Buy already told me I am good for their trade in. The BIG catch is if they take full price or not and they still do not know, but think it will be upgrade only.

I preordered with Best Buy and will cancel my Verizon order. If Best Buy does not allow the trade deal for full price, I will cancel that too. Then wait for some great N3 deals :)

Since my daughter broke the screen on the Droid Razr that she was using, I now don't have a phone I want to trade in on any account. Two lines have a Droid X, and Droid X2, and the other line has a Sammy S3. Don't want to get rid of the S3, it's still in almost perfect condition. They are only giving my $5 for the Droid X and $7 for the Droid X2 on trade.... so I can't do the $190 rebate back either. So.... I will have to pay full upgrade price I guess. Bummer.

Perfect time for her to learn some discipline. No allowance for 1 year. Phone paid!... LOL

Sorry to hear bout that... But, have you thought of maybe getting the screen fixed? The 60 you can pay to replace still can translate to a good pay back

I have thought about fixing the screen. I had already bought an extended battery and new back cover for it because she is too lazy to charge it up often enough. But nope, she gets to use the very old Droid X. She will get my other daughters S3 here in a couple of months as a hand me down. The other daughter, who is actually a year younger, actually takes care of her stuff. Her S3 is 2 years old and looks like new. BTW, no allowances for them - although I have TRIED to get them to earn one, lol.

Lucky kids. And they should be greatful having an understanding parent. If I had kids, they get rugged analog phone!... Lol... And only can take calls from me and their mom, or call me and their mom....hahaha.

In all seriousness, it would be worth exploring the screen fix, if that meant getting 200 bucks in trade in, minus amount spent to fix.

So, how do you know if a phone you are trading in qualifies ahead of time, IE before you pay for the new Note 4?

Just an FYI...

I went to Best Buy yesterday to preorder the AT&T Note 4. I have an AT&T Galaxy S4 mini to trade (in perfect condition). They wouldn't take the S4 mini because "the AT&T version of the S4 mini is not listed in their system".

I would check on-line on Best Buy's website to see if the phone is in their system with a trade-in value prior to going to the store to pre-order.

They are going to get into trouble, since have been telling people the only disqualified devices are water damage, cracked screen, or not functioning.

This offer across the board could be the biggest fail in years. Samsung obviously did not think this all out and going full on lame with terms, conditions and limitations. None of which have been clearly communicated. Samsung's own staff are giving conflicting answers, as are Best Buy staff and carriers.

Cluster fook = Samsung offer

Pre ordered the Note 4 at a Verizon Wireless store yesterday. Fingers crossed that the rebate program works as intended, but man feels really shaky so far.

  • The representative seemed very shaky on the promotion details
  • She didn't seem to think I could trade in my current phone at the store, but rather told me I should go back home and go to Verizon's trade-in website
  • She thought that on the website I would see an option to specify I was doing the Samsung offer, similar to the iPhone offer they also just ran, but nothing there
  • She thought I needed to make sure to go through the process online by 10/15 to set up the trade in to lock myself into the deal, but not to actually return the phone in the packaging they send me; rather return to the Verizon store with the paperwork
  • She said that I would get a VZW gift card for $200 that I could put towards the monthly phone charges, but I think again she may be confusing the iPhone plan

Looking at the Samsung T&C page it looks like maybe it doesn't matter when you trade your phone in, just that you pre-order by 10/15 (10/22 for VZW).

This all is making me nervous, I'm going to be pissed if I somehow don't get the full rebate.

Hi, I BRAND NEW lol, and my knowledge of all things electronic and cell related pales in comparison to what I have been reading on these Note 4 threads. So wondering if I could I get some help? I really am wanting the Note 4 and I am currently with Tmobile. I have a better plan IMO that what I would be getting if I were to switch to Verizon. So if I understand it correctly, Best Buy will price match Amazon. So if Amazon has the Verizon Note 4 contract free at $699.00 Would they price match a TMobile Note 4 at that price since Tmobile is contract free? Then if the BB offers Tmobile service and IF they did price match, I might or might not get the $200 BB rebate depending on if they know if it is contract only or not. If I cannot get the BB $200 rebate because it is a non contract Note 4, I could then however apply for the $200 Samsung rebate? Sorry if I have made this more difficult than necessary. Just wanting to make sure I can get the best deal, so annoyed because my husband almost had me switched to Verizon last week to preorder the Note 4 and I asked about 5 times if there was a promo of some kind and was told NO every time. Thanks so much!

It's bad etiquette to post the same question multiple times. I answered your other post.

So... we're supposed to trade a working phone into a "participating retailer". I've never traded a phone into a retailer, other than at a VZW store when purchasing a phone from them. Can anyone provide some examples of "participating retailers"? Would those self-serve kiosks at the mall qualify? TIA.

Went to Best Buy today and pre-ordered the Note 4. Asked both the rep and the manager if the trade-in was valid for the non-contract AT&T phone. They both said yes. Didn't yet have the price on it... said it would be about $800.

So we'll see.

I also pre-order mine at Best Buy The $200 rebate is for trading in your Smartphone I do not know if it's certain kind of smartphones that I'm not so sure of I have Samsung Galaxy S4 I'm trading that in for the $200 rebate and $50 best buy gift card for pre ordering I pre order mine 2nd day they announce the Note 4 for pre orders.

Note: If you pre-order it at Best Buy Samsung will give you the $200 rebate when Note 4 comes out and about trading in Smartphone it has to be fully function and no cracks on screen.... Goto best and talk to Samsung person or Best Buy person.....

the AT&T Version cost $825.99 plus tax depending which area in US you live at.
For Verizon and Sprint and T-Mobile prices very for non-contract prices.

I'm also buying mine on AT&T without contract it will be $650 or less without contract including tax using $200 rebate and $50 Best Buy Card what Best Buy and Samsung told me....

I think that unless BB changes their point of sale system for how the $200 card is authorized (contract-only transaction), you will be very disappointed. The terms also specify this and local stores have the printout of the terms for reference. There is no method for them to override corporate set phone terms if they wanted to.

Local BB also are weary of the "Entitled Ones" who think they can double dip with the other offer. I have dubbed them EO, but BB mobile just calls them double dippers.

The $50 Best Buy Card is your own deposit money. You put down a $50 deposit and the give you the $50 card to put toward the phone or spend it as you wish.

Samsung Promo has ended on Oct 10th and you can check with your carrier if they will offer you the $200 promo.

I submitted my online rebate to Samsung a week after I received my Note 4 (received it on Oct 16th). 2 days ago, I received an email saying my Rebate Request was approved, and I'll receive my rebate check in 6-8 weeks. I wasn't sure if it was gonna work since I sent a picture in for the rebate of a TMobile paper that said how much I was ESTIMATED to received for my turned in device. Didn't seem official enough, especially since TMobile still had to receive my phone and inspect it. But, guess it was good enough.

Anybody else receive a good news email from Samsung saying your rebate request was approved?

Same here. I sent the estimate of my trade-in and my rebate was approved a couple days ago.

I too did this through T-Mobile but haven't heard from Samsung yet. I did have issues however.....when I first provided the application online the site crashed when I tried to upload pictures of receipts, then when I tried to re-do the application I got an error for using an IMEI that's already submitted for the rebate. When I contacted Samsung they said to just upload the images but they didn't understand that it wasn't possible since I kept getting the IMEI error message. About 3 weeks ago I submitted everything via mail, and I have not heard from them yet. I'm pretty bummed and will write a letter to Sasmsung for their poor website
