I definitely thought that it was better than the other Hugo nominees I read (Parasite and Neptune's Brood)

I just finished Ancillary Justice so I will also be starting this soon.

Well, I got and plowed through Ancillary Justice... now I'm sad because I read it all and I will have to wait at least a year for the next book.
It was that good, though. I will likely pick it up and read it again pretty soon (actually, I might read Ancillary Sword first, then Justice)
Meanwhile, I have some Stephenson, Gone Girl, almost done with that Railroad history, and a book called Algebra Unplugged, which may or may not be helpful for my son...

Just finished reading Fancy Free by Pam You off. It's about 'Artificial Personlities' and it's pretty good, in my opinion. Kind of fast-paced, at the beginning, but once you get into the groove, you don't want to stop reading.

Even worse is Dark Places, Gillian Flynn's second book... you know how some books you just can't put down? This is almost the opposite: the characters are so painfully flawed, you have to put it down and walk away for a little while. Regain some balance before tackling the next chapter.

I'm about to finally finish Jack Reacher series. It's been a fun ride but I'll be glad to finally move on.

Mark Greaney now rights the Tom Clancy novels. He also has his own Court Gentry series which is quite good.
David Baldacci is a prolific writer, maybe best known for his Cotton Club series, which I highly recommend.
If you like spy thrillers Vince Flynn and Brad Thor are the best.
One I forgot to mention is Stephen Hunter. The first few books of his Bob Lee Swagger series are awesome. Check out Point Of Impact.

Just finished the most recent Jack Reacher novel, Personal. Was impressed and enjoyed it alot. Haven't managed to read a book from start to finish in a while but couldnt put this one down 
I'm a fan series but only started reading them when one shot came out and have only read about half of the ones before that and all of them after so still missing a couple. My favourite so far is Die Trying.
Have started reading The Witcher series now as I started on the Witcher 2 game. I'm not getting anywhere on the game but I'm loving the book The Last Wish

I just finished After the Golden Age by Carrie Vaughn. Apparently, she's known for 'urban fiction'or something, but this book was pretty good

Finished Superheroes Anonymous by Lexie Dunne. Now starting something a little different, Ben Carson's One Vote, because my T-Day host is painfully conservative and won't rest unless I appear to agree with everything that they say on Fox News... reading an approved book will keep me from being up-to-date on the latest propaganda... : rolleyes:

After that, perhaps Andy Weir's The Martian; I've heard a lot of good stuff about that one.

Okay, so I picked up and read Spymistress by William Stevenson (not to be mistaken by the man called Intrepid, with a similar name); which chronicles the life of Vera Atkins, the woman who is said to have inspired the character Moneypenny of Bond fame.
The book is more-or-less a fact-dump, no doubt useful for researchers, but much of this information has been buried in secrecy until quite recently, and it provides some disturbing insights into the European arena of World War II.
