Root [Virgin Mobile] Official LiquidSmooth Nightlies!!

I'm on 10/22 with BMS kernel and it's working pretty well. Battery drain is "eh" but it's pretty stable from what I've seen thus far. Here's BMS if anyone is interested in trying:

P.S.: You WILL get the front cam reboot with the stock kernel. You need BMS to fix it for whatever reason.

Thanks! I just came back to LiquidSmooth after being on a TW ROM for a while. Wow..the speed difference is just amazing, why did I leave in the first place? The BMS kernel worked great for me and the ROM seems very stable (no random reboots yet in 2 days). Everything works great including GPS, front-facing camera, snapchat (to those who need it), MMS, LTE, etc.

How did you get your gps to work?

Cannot get LTE working on latest build. I have tried all available Fixes and even started over after backing up. It either gets 3G or 1x. Been recieving 1x more and more frequently. Antennae hardware issue??
Did you do a clean install? I know that CM Roms also have worse signal than TouchWiz Roms, so it might be that if you had a really weak LTE signal before.

If I want to try this out, can my touchwiz rom be restored in its entirety from the philztouch backup, kernel and all, or will I need a stock kernel zip? and which nightly do I use? s3 unified latest is 10/27, s3 sprint is 11/03 - I'm on Virgin Mobile like the rest of you, on NDC bootloader and modem.
Yes your backup will restore everything. Make sure you backup everything, system, boot, and data.

OK, install went well, so well in fact that my wife decided she wanted me to flash hers too. That's when the weirdness ensued. Same phone, same baseband etc... not the same results. First her phone has a problem with the ROM reading her SD card, turned out it was formatted exFAT. Fixed that, but now have a persistent voicemail notification on boot that is bogus (the visual voicemail app from VM works, but the notification is there even if there's no voicemail.)

On my phone, Titanium wanted me to clone the Android ID for better compatibility with restoring my apps and then updating them thru the play store, on hers it never asked me to do that... with mine, since doing that, now I get 941 errors from time to time and have to keep wiping the data & cache for the play store... and my play store has mysteriously gone black-themed, while hers stayed white...

I love when you follow the same procedures and get two different results...

Then to add to this, both of us have no USB access to our phones since installing Liquidsmooth 10/27, only ftp works to transfer files to them. Is this a known issue?

Is there a better kernel to use then BMS, and can that be the culprit?

What works, with all the fixes applied: 3G, 4G/LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, SMS/MMS in and out, calls in and out. And it's twice as fast as TouchWiz easily, if not more. Overall I'm happy with the ROM, though I fear she won't be because of these issues and others I may not have encountered yet, so I thought I'd bring it here.

Which fixes did you apply to get gps to work?

Formatting her card is what caused the differences. It held titanium settings backup which held your android id. You wiped hers so it didn't ask to restore it. You keep wiping the data in your play store, which wipes part of the app update. The update is likely what turned hers white. Wipe data and yours went back to black, also restoring your android ID may have had something to do with it. So you see, formatting her sdcard (which I see was probably necessary) is probably what led to all the different results. If you don't like how it turned out, just reflash. Also any apps that you can just install from the play store and simply log in, you shouldn't restore data in titanium. No point when a simple log in restores it. Games and some apps which data cannot be restored just by logging in, I use titanium.
Coming from tw to an aosp ROM restoring old app data can cause problems sometimes. Also be sure to format internal SD whenever switching from tw to aosp. Just my experience.
