Fear the Note5 will follow S6 trend

Is anyone else worried that the Note 5 will follow in the footsteps of the S6.
NO SD Card slot.
NO Removable battery.
NO Waterproofing.

I am waiting for the Note 5 to be my next phone, coming from the Note 3.

I've been a big Samsung Fan boy for a long time, whole family has them, but I fear that no SD Card slot or removable battery will make me look for a new brand, let alone no waterproofing.
These feel like backward steps to me.
Not Happy Samsung :( :(

i was just about to make this thread haha..but see you got to it first!.. but yea i have the note 4 and don't like the way samsung is going.. and well regards to your other post the note was never waterproof.. so they can't really follow in the footsteps.. hope there is a petition started and it becomes big enough for samsung to see that people do like expandable storage and don't want to be pushed "to the cloud"

Fair enough on no waterproofing... Guess I was just thinking that was the way of the future from Samsung.
But taking steps backwards just doesn't make sense to me.
As mentioned in my other post.
I like the idea of the SD card even if it purely for the fact that if all my photos are stored on the SD card and my phone have a fit , I just take out my SD Card and no photos are lost.
I don't use Cloud or other online storage.

I doubt they will go that way with the Note5 but if they did and just threw a 5/6000 mah battery in it plus 256 gb it wouldn't be a big problem for most people.
The way the rumours suggest etc... I seriuly doubt they will as I don't there's a big need for water proofing either it would be stupid to not have interchangeable battery and memory unless they were hellbent on making it waterproof

Samsung is confident that their battery technology is such that replacing the battery will be a thing of the past. They're not basing their design of the phone on the few of us out here who mod and may hit a bootloop that requires a battery pull... they're building to suit the millions of users out there who just want a phone that works.

I, too, will be very pained if it comes out without a microSD slot. Particularly if the 128GB option isn't available on the Developer Edition directly from Samsung. It would be a tremendous step backward.

Non-removable battery, as the chief stated, may be happening due to a change in the speed of charging (still doesn't help us a year later when batteries have lost 50% capacity!) BUT...

No microSD card ins't tied to the equation, they can add a external microSD to the side pretty easily, since the note is the driving force behind gearVR and possibly the first 4k VR screen, more storage via microSD seems logical to me, hopefully sammy agrees

Plus I doubt very seriously that the Developer Edition will come with a 128GB option. It'll probably be the bare bones 32GB version. With no microSD card support, there is no way that's sufficient memory for me. I shudder to think that this is the end of my smartphone relationship with Samsung (which begane way back with the Galaxy Nexus), but I need a device I can root... and with enough storage to support my stuff.

It's not just the battery life it's the inconvenience of running to a Starbucks or a place like that to charge it and you need a charger your pocket. My son dozed off in Starbucks and his phone was stolen. Thief left the charger in the wall.

ATT guy told me that when his friends galaxy s6 fell on the floor the back shattered. This site is terrible tonight with the bad delay and I keep missing words. the only way to type is to dictate. I have the galaxy note 2 and I really would like to upgrade to a note 5.

Still using my beloved Note 2 and have loved every second of ownership. I'm really hoping the Note 5 has the SD card and removeable battery option. I don't think it will waterproof however.

I would like to see it arrive with a minimum storage of 64gb and maintain the excellent battery footprint.

In the looks department...just hope Sammy doesn't go overboard with the chrome and unnecessery bling.

I just want a very fast and efficient device - no lag or silly bloatware.

Which is exactly why I will not buy it from my provider.

Verizon is notorious for two things: (a) bloatware; and (b) making Samsung encrypt the bootloader so we can't mod.

Fortunately, Sammy was completely unprepared for the deluge of orders for their Verizon Developer Edition Note 4, which is purchased directly from Samsung.com and comes with an unlocked bootloader. Easy to root & ROM. They repeatedly sell out. I just hope they have learned that the modding community is larger than they think it is, and offer a lot of Note 5 Verizon Developer Edition devices.

If the rumors are right and they come from the very reputable Nowhereelse.fr the Note 5 will follow suit of the S6 and not have a removable back. I'm so disappointed. If they could guarantee the battery would hold a full charge for more than 2 years wo excessive charging i could live with just the micro SD card but not having both. What is their logic in taking that away?

I'm still on my Note 2. I love it but it's definitely lagging. It's gotten a lot of use. I was looking forward to replacing it with the Note 5. Now I'm thinking i will go with the Note 4.

Any other opinions out there? It would take a good sell to get me to go to the Note 5.

I think the Note 5 will be a sales disaster worse than the S6 that Samsung still keeps distorting sales numbers with sell-in rather than actual sell-through to consumer sales. Analysts have called them out on it, but Samsung keeps pushing BS.

The Note series is mainly a productivity device, so losing the SD and replaceable battery is pure foolish of Samsung. Most people will likely keep their Note 4's and the used market will have higher selling prices since Note 2 & 3 owners will be more likely to want Note 4's. The Note series is not a fashion statement and Samsung appears to not get this. Note 4 will continue to have high demand.

The Note 5 apparently has the same 1440p display. Why upgrade for less features and higher cost? The Note 4 is fast, radios are good and battery life is very good. I think Samsung is painting themselves in a marketshare corner that is a double whammy due to the iPhone 6 Plus refresh this year.

Most folks are not dumb enough to pay a premium price for a Note 5 128gb when they can get an overall better featured Note 4 with 128sd card for $100 less (at least) and still have another 32GB more storage in comparison to the Note 5. This is NUTS and Samsung's Apple wannabe fetish is about to bite their a$$ real hard.

LG has a huge opportunity here, but will they capitalize?

Things are continuing to sound bad for the Note 5. If they don't offer it with an internal storage capacity of 128GB I hope their sales numbers are so bad that the company fires the executives responsible for deciding to omit the microSD slot. A non-removable battery is a bad enough insult. Dropping the expandable storage is just completely unnecessary an unforgivable.

WTF, it just doesn't make sense. Samsung and everyone else continues to improve the camera hardware in these devices, and yet, then they're going to go ahead and put a severe dent in your ability to store and access significant amounts of pictures and videos? Yes, sure, the 'cloud' is another location to use for that activity, but the cloud has a long goddamn way to go before it's everywhere, all the time, and at high signal strength. The only way I'll remain a pretty happy Samsung smartphone customer is if the Note 5 comes in a version with at least 128GB capacity, if it doesn't have a microSD slot. And if they do, Verizon better have it available in their lineup..

If all rumors are true I Will take a wait and see approach I like swapping my battery if it's low and have somewhere to go and have a new battery instntly..Samsung is def. ****ing up and I hope the note 5 sells bad to reflect this! As a matter of fact their coming out with another useless device the s6 edge+ like who cares? Looks like these devices will be eating at each other's sales.. God why are they so stupid they got the s6 right with the design but that phone is made to go against the iPhone then you have the note which its meant for power users and you try and make it a pretty phone man who cares!! Shit!

Catch is the 128gb model is still 32gb less than the Note 4 with 128gb card and over $100 total cost.

Note 4 rocks so will stay with it.

I have a Galaxy S4 and I am waiting to see what comes out. So far after the Lollipop update I have lost the song ID and artist id while streaming Pandora to my truck. I have also had trouble with staying connect to wifi while using the internet and Pandora after the same update. I would like to do the note 4 but I'm afraid that it wont work there either. I like the sd card and removable battery and don't want to lose it. That was the reason for waiting for the 5. But the more I read the more I am seeing that the note 5 will not have either. If there going to follow the iphone I might as well cave and get a new IPhone at least that phone will work with the things I have lost from the Android Lollipop joke. Al

This is what people GET for wanting a so called PREMIUM Samsung- no SD card and fixed battery. I personally would rather a grippy plastic back than the super slidy fixed backs of S6, htc, crapple and sony phones. Plastic backs were strong and light as a feather. Some people go on about the htc as being beautiful- sod beauty, I just want a phone to work ok. Also, a good percentage of phones are stuffed into a case, so wheres the beauty gone then ?
I have held an S6, not a phone I would carry around without being in a good case- far too slippery. Like holding a wet bar of soap in a hot bath.
LG probably now make the only new phones with sd cards and removable batteries.
