I turned on my camcorder and let it run propped up on a table. When I came back to watch it later, I get an error message that says "File cannot be displayed or played". It shows in the gallery that there is a video there with the date attached to it, but I can't view it.

How can I fix it?

If it matters, the last update I have is the Dec 2011 update. I know there are two newer updates, but when I select "check for updates", I get an error message that says "Check for update is not available at this time. Try again later."

I realized that the phone was in airplane mode (it's just an extra I keep around the house as an IP Cam), so once I turned airplane mode off, I was able to update the Android software.

Unfortunately, I still wasn't able to view the video - from the phone nor the computer I hooked to it. When I went to the folder, that video along with two prior videos all came up as zero kb file size. Even though there is a file with a date and thumbnail image, somehow it didn't save???

I just let it run. In my other phones/tablet, if you let it run it will record a max of 30 minutes or 60 minutes. I hit record and then just let it run.
OK, so I don't know what to tell you, I still have no idea if "let it run" could have been an hour or twelve, and I'm not sure of the point in asking again ok.

Here's the deal, as I said before - there's a 2 GB size limit.

If it ran over the 2 GB addressing limit in your device, then the directory entry is completely hosed and nothing on the phone is going to be able to deal with it.

If it ran over 4 GB, nothing on Windows is going to read the card, assuming that you try to get to it with an SD card reader. Even then, it may be a lost cause.

Unless your "other phones/tablet" are the same model and OS version as this one, running the same camera app, how they behaved really doesn't matter outside a point of curiosity.

If you've been able to "just let it run" in this device before for the same amount of time, whatever that was, and it worked before but not now, then the sd card is probably on its way out.

Hope you get sorted out, best luck, have a great day!
