Help Minor annoyances - any suggestions?

Hello all,

I've recently upgraded from Android v 2.x to v 5.0.2 courtesy of a new Sony Z3 Compact. I like the phone, but have some gripes,

1. When I unlock the phone, I see the call history screen as a default rather than my home page. I've looked but can't seem to find the setting that controls this.

2. Each time I open Chrome, it always starts with a blank tab rather than the previous web page I was looking. Similarly, the Google Search app also retains no search history. I can't find any setting that controls this.

3. Also, on my previous phone when I searched for something (e.g. "Bernoulli Distribution") using the Google Search app, it would bring up direct links to common websites (e.g. Wikipedia) in addition to the incremental search results. The app on Lollipop does not do this. Again, I can't find a setting for this.

4. Another podcast related issue - if I toggle between a podcast and a music track, and then re-select the podcast, I'd expect the podcast to start off at the last played point rather than the beginning. This is how my old HTC phone used to work. However, on the Z3 each time I toggle tracks - it always starts at the beginning. Am using the Sony stock application instead of Google Play Music.

5. The Google Search widget on the home screen doesn't search any of the content on the phone. I can't use it to find application settings, files or music. I could configure it to search locally on the HTC. Is this a configuration that's missing from the Z3?

I am running Android v 5.0.2. The phone is not rooted.

Thank you in advance.
