Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

Does anyone know of a way to carry over the $50 unlimited promotional plan over to a BYOD phone?.?.? Or has heard of it happening? I have a co-worker who swears he did just that...

Ask him to prove it.
The terms of the promotion were that it was valid only for Metro-branded phones. You can keep it if you switch phones from one Metro-branded one to another, but switching to a BYOD will knock you off the plan permanently.
It happens automatically when the IMEI goes into the system as it will recognize whether it's a Metro device or not. So unless your co-worker somehow magically slipped through the cracks, it's highly unlikely.

I have a BYOD (AT&T Note 2 i317).

Are Short Codes blocked on BYOD's or just on MetroPCS, in general? I receive none of my shortcode texts on my Note 2. (Ex. Redbox 727272)
I can only think of things fairly obvious to you....
1. You could switch your account's Safe/Family Filter Setting from ON to OFF But if website cannot confirm your identity it won't allow it.
2. Try sending a short code, then- whether it fails or not-- check Messaging's permissions in say app manager.. Premium SMS is at always/automatic Allow.

Hi! New here and need help with my phone!
I just bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 sm-g900v from Ebay and activated it to Metro PCS.
I am having trouble with some features and I am unsure if it's bc I have a BYOD phone or if it's something else?

Issue 1: I cannot get my Voice mail to work, I called customer service from a different phone and had them troubleshoot but no beans. They did not fix anything.
I cannot call my VM by pressing the 1 it says not in service, I Can call VM by dialing my own # however It does not register any button presses thru the menu. I tried just setting a #2 speed dial for my own # but NOPE. The call won't connect thru Speed dial.
Tried resetting the voice mail phone number to my own number thru settings but it won't save it.

I am thoroughly lost at this point.

Issue 2: I can't even call customer care on my phone. I have to call from a different phone. 611 does not work. Looked up the 1800# and dialing that directly does not allow me to connect.

Issue 3: phone says it can't connect/sync the date/time to the network.

Issue 4: I downloaded the My metro app and it won't allow me connect at all says not found. The comments on the app store says it's bc I have a BYOD phone.

So what's up is this fixable is there a VM app I can DL
Help please and thank you!

Well its currently activated with metro calling and texting work however the website says the galaxy s5 is not supported... ? Idk I already don't like metro and am ready to switch this is bs
You bought the wrong kind of S5.
There are basically 2 types: CDMA for Verizon n sprint, GSM for att / tmo/metro.(not exactly / totally, but this is simple explanation)
You should NOT mix, otherwise you run into problems... like now.
It's not your present carrier's fault, you need to return your phone if still able to.

Try either, the second one I'm USING NOW.
I've highlighted the SPELLING Differences from YOURS ... the CAPS probably are ok spelled that way too, but may as well change.
If you can, just create extra apn(s).
I'm using tmo APN no issues...
I DON'T REMEMBER SETTING MMS PROXY, MAYBE AN APP DID THIS,
TRY LEAVING IT BLANK FIRST.
PS all those APN types ensure you fastest speeds plus that Hotspot n other services like mms will have no glitches.
And yes, no comma spaces needed.

Ps2 APN protocol: you may not be allowed to only set ipv6, select both 4 n 6 in that case.
