Root [Public Mobile] How to flash recovery on PMI_N860(Warp)

it stucks on saying on Command prompt that "Sending recovery <5716 kb>....
what do i do after it...... :/

Welcome to our AndroidForums, Jimmy!

Fair warning that this device is not my forte', but I've often encountered that issue when using a USB 3.0 port with fastboot. Try a USB 2.0 port if you haven't already.

Best of luck and I'm sure others will chime-in with more useful advice ;) :).

I tried updating the driver to the one that's on the SDK and it says something about the hash being corrupted or something.....

I even redownloaded it.

Huy guys, I know this is an old thread, but I've tried rooting my PMI N860 a few times in the past 2 years using this thread, but no luck. I want to give it one last try now that I've just gotten a new phone, so any help would be appreciated! The problem is the image isn't being written (fastboot just hangs forever):
c:\android sdk>fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery.img
sending 'recovery' (5716 KB)... OKAY [ 1.478s]
writing 'recovery'...

Both CWM and TWRP exhibit the same behaviour.

Welcome to our AndroidForums, @thefallenghost :).

I don't own/have this device, but if you're using a USB 3.0 port on your PC, try using a USB 2.0 port instead--fastboot is sometimes finicky and seems to work better w/2.0.

No guarantees, but it's something to try.

Cheers!

Wow blast from the past... I had the same issue on one of my n860s back in the day. I had a work around for it. if you just want to root, you can use this command instead: fastboot boot [recoveryimg]
At this point the phone will boot into twrp or cwm depending on which one you choose and then you can flash the root zip and it will root your phone. If your goal is to have the custom recovery, you can flash one of the two recovery flashers at the bottom of the op from there and it will stick. I don't know what causes it but for some reason some of these zte phones don't like fastboot. Hope it helps... :)

Sorry it's been a while, i thought there was a root zip in my OP. Once you have booted into twrp or cwm using the "fastboot boot recovery.img" command, you should be able to flash one of these. that should root and install recovery as well as the jbr400 data fix all in one swift move. let me know how that works out, I'll monitor the thread for the next couple of days. I've been out of the game but I'm kinda swinging back into it... :)

just put it on your sd card and when you boot into recovery with fastboot, pick the zip file from your sd card to install

Sorry I didn't have time to try it out yesterday. Turns out it works great, thank you so much!! Now I can try to install a small home server on it :D

One more thing: do you know anything about the ROM found here http://androidforums.com/threads/bo...-working-jellybean-4-1-2-for-zte-warp.720431/ or any alternatives (I like that Cyanogenmod comes with sshd/dropbear and other tools)?

http://androidforums.com/threads/pu...oost-rom-on-public-phone.721692/#post-5838666

in this thread at the bottom of the first post, you will find a modified b10 firmware. to experiment properly with boost roms incuding cm roms you should flash that firmware. i've tested them in the past and they work very well with the exception of mms messages but that is a moot point now that the phone can no longer be conected to a network. check out the others like this one was my favorite at the time:
