no 'move to sd' option...

I don't see any 'move to sd' option in my current setup. What am I missing? I know I had it earlier. Just reinstalled from scratch and now I do not see it. I go into settings - Storage & USB - Apps and when I click on any app it USED to tell me where it was located (SD card or internal) and for some apps had the option to 'move to sd' card. Now I don't see it :-( Is there some setting that needs to be set before this is available? The SD card is set up as portable.

I am running the latest update marshmallow

Appreciate any hints!

P.S. My bootloader is unlocked. Does anyone have an unlocked bootloader and is able to move apps? Or even see storage location?

Could someone please confirm that if your SD card is installed as 'portable', you do get the 'move to SD' option for some apps? Maybe I am confused, having spent too much time configuring this phone back and forth. I do get this option if I set up the card as internal.

I think if you set it up as portable it will not let you move apps to SD.

Gotta go through every app.

If you click "Storage", the next screen will say "Change" as an option and then you can move to External Storage. If that option is not there, then the app cannot be moved.

I have a different phone but have 6.0 Marshmallow

OK thanks, so I had confused myself I think! The move option is only there if you set up the SD card as adoptable. So then I tried to use link2sd which needs root and a second partition formatted ext2, ext3 or ext4. Stock ROM only supports ext2. But... link2sd does not seem to work with marshmallow at this point... but finally I came across a solution that I adopted. You don't have to make the whole SD card adoptable, you can set part adoptable ('internal') and part as reg. external SD. Thanks for posting that link. I haven't made the jump yet to Adoptable Storage. I am doing more research and that blog post was helpful. Just got a new sd card, too.

It seems like using "adoptable storage" in essence increases your internal memory. There are no more options to save to the SD card - the camera app, for example, usually has a toggle for saving photos to internal or SD and that no longer shows.

I was a little worried because I'm not sure you have any control over what apps or data is actually stored on the removable "adoptable storage" so if you were ever to remove it or the card fails, you might be left with random apps and data that are no longer accessible.

If the card fails and you chose adoptable storage, the data is gone forever. The app can be reinstalled and you would have to put in a new card and start all over.

Portable storage keeps your card "external" and you could reuse it like we are normally used to. I used the link scubaman posted and made my card partially adoptable and partially portable.
