Root question about backing up a rooted Nexus 6

Hi all,
A root newbie here. I'm rooted with twrp recovery. I have it read only mood I think. I made a nandroid with efs.
Now I have the phone set up the way I want with couple of changes in build.prop etc.
Now I want to back up an image in a way that down the road after flashing a different factory image or something like that, I can just restore this backup to have the phone the way I like.
I hope I explained it OK.
Please advise and thanks.

I always just use the backup that TWRP gives me. Have done backups a few times this way and it works flawlessly!

Just reboot into TWRP and choose backup.

Will do give it a shot.
Question, does this just backs up the system or with data too? Also what happens when after flashing a newer factory image if I restore this backup. Do my system reverts back to old version?

Yes, it is a 100% version of the system you are running at the time of the backup.
I flash a new rom at least once every 2 weeks. I have the backup set for "system", "data", and "boot". This keeps all my pics and stuff. You can also choose to backup "system image", "cache", "recovery", and "EFS". not sure what all that does?
I currently have a N6 and run Dirty Unicorns rom. It is the best IMHO. I have used the backup a few times and it works 100%. Last thing I do prior to re-flashing an update. I have online backups of all my messages, all my bookmarks etc. It only takes me about an hour to do everything. Most of that time is re-downloading of apps. Only about 15 minutes of my time is needed

BTW........Dirty Unicorns is pre-rooted. It is all in one!

Thanks for the reply. I was reading a thread in XDA, that said if the phone is encrypted and lock screen password is used then restoring a nandroid is a no-no. Generated encryption key will not Match. So....
