Marshmallow Update OTA MetroPCS LG G Stylo

Ok, what state is your phone in now? Is it working besides the annoying OTA updates?

Can you get to recovery?

  1. Turn off the device
  2. Press and hold Volume Down key + Power key about 10 seconds
  3. Release all key when LG logo appears
  4. Press and hold again Volume down key + Power key
  5. Release all key when Android System Recovery Mode appears

Once in recovery you can clear the cache partition.

Yes. The phone is working fine other than not allowing me to update to marshmallow. What will clearing the cache partition to? It's not going to erase anything off my phone correct?

I called Metro and they told me I had to bring it into a store. I called the store and the guy said that I most likely have a virus and to bring it in and it's $15 to try to get a replacement phone through the warranty. Forget that mess. I guess I will just stick with 5.1.1 if the method on the t-mobile site does not work.

lol a virus...thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard...if wiping the cache doesn't work why not try a factory reset? i mean, you should probably do a factory reset after updating to mm anyway just to make sure it runs nice and smooth...just back up pictures and anything else and reinstall your apps after you reset

Back them up where? When I moved everything over from my Galaxy S3, it was a huge pain in the butt and texts and other info either came back all out of order or not at all. I wiped the cache but now I can't find the update anywhere to try to install it. I did the May 13th at 11:30 pm trick but it didn't work. How can I get the update in order to see if wiping the app cache like the link he posted worked?

Honestly, it shouldn't be this difficult and I doubt 6.0 is even worse all this hassle.

well i have no idea how to backup texts, i just let them get wiped when i kdz'd back to stock...i have all my pictures/vids on my sd card and i have a copy of the sd card contents on my computer

now that you dont see the notification to update you're in the same boat as me. i tried the setting the time manually trick to but to no avail...now im just going to try and be patient and hope that the notification comes back...i definitely agree though, im almost positive 6.0 is not worth the hassle...the funny thing is that after all this nonsense, if mm doesnt wow me i will probably just end up back on katana lol

SMS Texts can be backed up to SMS Backup and Restore app in the Playstore

That's the app I used but all the text messages came back out of order. I am not going to worry about this marshmellow Fiasco. If I am not meant to get the update, I am not meant to get it. Other people are having the same issue as me so maybe MetroPCS will figure it out eventually.

Good lord. I dont know of its been mentioned but try flashing the stock firmware.

If you simply just unrooted your device the ota will still fail. You have to have your system partition COMPLETELY STOCK.

Just a tip in case anyone has overlooked this in their rush to get marshmallow.

I was impatient and flashed the tmo version a long time ago when mm was released. I didnt have these issues but i flashed the stock tmo image for my device and went from there.

Try that. Hopefully it fixes things for a couple ppl

i received the ota notification while i was on katana but i did not attempt to install it. i used the metro 10j kdz (because i have a metro phone on metro service) via the lg flash tool and after that i tried the clock trick but the ota still has not come back...am i missing something to the clock trick? do i have to power down the phone and turn it back on afterwards? or do some other step to trigger it?

How much space do you have in your internal storage?
