Hey,
My first android device was the Moto G3, which I thought was excellent for the money. I then bought a Huawei Honor 7i or something.....also excellent for the money. I then figured that since I am a power user, I would go for something top of the line, so I bought the Galaxy S7 Edge, as all the reviews were great, sying it is the best phone out there. Well, while I agree, the screen is pretty, the battery lasts all day, games work well (although i'm not a gamer), the camera is very good and multi tasking works well, I am not at all impressed with the ergonomics and usability of this phone, nor the reliability of the software.
I'll come clean, I was an iphone user, but got sick of the price and the anal attitude towards compatibility with the outside world. I was very chuffed with Android, until I tried this device. I remember now why I was so anti Samsung:
1. You cannot use this phone one handed. Even 2 handed, you have to be extremely careful not to either touch the over sensitive screen, the edges or the capacitive buttons, which will send you miles away from where you were going, and cause you to waste precious minutes navigating around, when all you wanted was to check an e mail! Just a horrible experience!.... try passing the phone to somebody to show them a picture and 9 times out of 10, the picture will be lost before the picture is in front of their eyes.
2. Chromecast streaming works very unreliably. Quite often, the only way to get the phone out of a streaming related lockup, is to re start it.......really? this is supposed to b a flagship power house!
3. I have had to re pair my Android Wear device to the phone 3 times in 3 weeks of ownership.
4. OK Google either falsely triggers itself while listening to you tube clips that don't even say OK, or Google. Yes I have re trained it several times. Most of the time, while asking Google for something, OK Google will butt in when I''m half way through my sentence, with the wrong answer.
6. Google keyboard, which I have been using successfully since my Moto G, refuses to sync to Google on the S7, as it thinks I have a Google Apps account.....I don't, and besides, it is working fine on both my other devices.
5. It has never taken me so long to type anything, as it does with this phone. It just constantly misinterprets what you are typing.
6. The edge functionality is very weak, so don't buy this phone if you are expecting great things from this feature.
7. The phone interface is clunky and dated, not containing many useful features, as Huawei's widely ridiculed Touch Wizz does, while looking light and functional.
These are all basics, as you can see. Stuff that we should be taking for granted at this stage. What is the point of making a phone that is this horrible to use, just for the sake of it having a gimmicky screen??
I am going to get rid of it. I'm too old to spend my time scouring the internet for fixes and work arounds, I just want a nice phone that is better than my 200$ ones! May well go back to a Moto G or a nexus.
Does anyone know how to fix all of the above issues by any chance? The camera is genuinely nice!
Bloody Samsung!
