Help Slow to connect wifi since update to 6

Updated LG H440N to 6.0 a few days ago and npw find that connecting to my home wi-fi is slower than it was before the update.

Before, I would drag down the menu from top screen, switch on wi-fi and within (approx) 3 seconds the wifi signal strength would display.

Now I do the same and it takes approx 10 seconds before the signal strength displays during which it flashes the wifi Settings dialogue showing the available SSIDs on screen for a second or so.

Okay, so I am complaining about losing 7 seconds of my life every time I connect, which I realise is pathetic!! But I don't like things that used to work fine being made "worse" by an update.

I have tried "forgetting" the SSid, and rebooting the phone.

Any other things I can do?

Bump.

Really, no one else have this problem?

Thanks for reply.

Just rebooted router but still the same. Haven't tried connecting to any other networks.

It's really bugging me now as I am used to switching on wifi, swiping that display up and launching the email app. Previously that would be sufficient time for the email app to be syncing messages as the screen comes up. Now it tells me "network not connected," and it then connects. Grrrr.

I too switch off the internet when my phone is asleep.
I use a macro to do it for me though, MacroDroid.

When the screen is unlocked, MacroDroid turns on WiFi and by the time I get to the email app, WiFi tells me it is connected. Actually, I need to do away with that message about being connected, I don't care to ever see it again, it gets in the way of me typing an email to send out.

RESOLVED: I noticed an option under Developer Options to "revert to Lollipop DHCP". Ticked this and it now connects like it used to (almost "instantly").

Begs the question: why did they need to put that option in? Presumably as in testing 6 they found it was much slower to pick up an IP address.
