Help Which phone has BEST CELL RECEPTION?

I have an LG G3 on the Virgin Mobile network (Canada) (It uses Bell towers, and I'm located in a large city). I basically can't use my cell phone in my own apt., because calls are constantly dropping, or the caller doesn't hear me, or I don't hear them. No wonder, the dbm on the cell signal averages about -113. This still happens when I'm outside on the balcony! This is not acceptable, so I have to find a solution.

I'm not interesed in buying additional hardware like extenders/boosters. It wouldn't solve the problem, since the problem of call dropping/interference shows up even at work (both inside the building and well outside the building!). This is very location dependent, because it works in most locations. Switching carriers is not an option, because it would break my bundle plan. Besides, it's not a guarantee either that it would work both at home and at work.

I've tested numerous phones with the same SIM card, and I'm definitely getting superior dbm numbers on some phones (Galaxy S3, LG Optimus Net, XPeria SP, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4S.... the 4s had the best numbers, but still not good enough to avoid dropping calls in my living room). Which phones are known to have superior cell reception? (I'll go iPhone if I have to!) It's very hard to find this out in reviews.

Pretty much any model. I currently have an X Pure, it's great. My friend has a new-ish (last year?) Samsung and my Moto gets a better signal (we are both on Verizon so it's a fair comparison).
Now. That being said, Lenovo is now Moto and who knows what that means. lol. I wouldn't count on timely updates at any rate, that doesn't seem to be a priority for them. I've gotten to the point where I don't really care, as long as it works I'm happy (currently on 6.0 with no security updates!).

Thanks. I'll take a close look at replacing my LG G3 for a Moto. Don't care about updates myself. I always root my Android phones, so I can no doubt update it with a ROM if I feel the need.

Ok, here's something interesting.... when I switched the network setting on my LG G3 to "GSM ONLY" (removing the GSM/WCDMA/LTE" option, I went almost immediately from -111dbm to -81dbm! DAMN! I may not need that Moto after all!

-81 is even better than I was getting on the iPHone 4s. And that doesn't have LTE at all. However.... that lasted about 2 minutes, then I could not get a signal at all! Then I switched to GSM/WCDMA, got my signal back, and the dbm was -95-97. With LTE turn on, it was -117! Kind of weird, because I read Bell does not use CDMA any longer on its network. Nevertheless, when I did a search for available networks, they were all listed as WCDMA.

Anyways, it appears it may not be the phone that's at fault, or the Bell towers, which I previously assumed. But the LTE part of the network. Since I got this tip from another site, I'm not the only one to have noticed that switching off LTE improves signal reception on GSM.

This list is sort of old (2013), but if you dont mind these phones then you can use it. Maybe you can believe the brand trend ;)
It lists the phones by an index calculated from -dBm, to a linear value (I believe). So 300 would be a rise from a sensitivity of -100 dBM to -106 dBm roughly (3 times better).

As you can see, Nokia Lumia 925 and Xperia Z are pretty awesome on 3G. iPhone is no surprise.
