Accessories Desktop Charging Cradle

With the power connector on the side, you would have to be very creative to make a drop in cradle in portrait orientation. The only practical way to make a drop in charging cradle for the inc with the power connector on the side is in the landscape orientation.

I spoke to the company that shows the vertical cradle for the incredible..they said there will be a knock out on the side of the guide that will allow you to plug the cable into the phone.

Unfortunately, since the home screen on this phone is only vertical, I assume most of the docks will be vertical docks; who wants to look at their home screen sideways all the time??????

Don't you think we will have plenty of apps that will run horizontal?

The Desk Clock will run horizontal and puts off a nice glow at night. Great for the stand... of course not much different from vertical.

Download Helix Launcher. It turns the bottom row into useable Icons instaed of the three choices that HTC has at the bottom. Once you load Helix and use it as the Homescreen you will be able to rotate all of the screens you make on Helix to Landscape or portrait. With Helix you can choose up to 7 homescreens or have just 3. Helix also gives you a setting for adjusting auto rotate incase you want to turn it off.

But look where the micro USB plug is at:

That ain't right, unless my phone is different than everyone else's...

My email to them:
Indicates that it is in stock. But not when I add to cart!
This is what the company said to me
The cradle is currently being tested it should be available for sale within
3 weeks.

Thank you,

can you use your existing Sense home screen with Helix, or does it replace it with something else?
What about your live wallpapers?

thanks!

I had the docks from Think Mobile for my LG Dare which has the charging port about the same spot as the Incredible does - it basically just held the phone upright with a 3" microUSB cord you had to plug in to the phone each time you wanted to use it...

I made myself a dock at home out of Legos that sits the phone in portrait mode and serves double duty as my alarm clock

and I took an old Moto Q dock and gutted it and fit a microUSB cable in the proper spot so it works with my Incredible now on my desk at work...

EDIT: Borrowed my buddies Moto Droid and snapped this shot of my Incredible in my Moto Q dock

The only problem I see with that is there is not a power connection. If I wanted only a stand that might be OK, but I still would have to plug the power cable into the Inc for this to work.

which one are you talking about? the OP's? it comes with a wall wart that plugs in to the back of the dock - and like it's been mentioned - that photo doesn't depict the proper dock for the Incredible...the proper one just gives you a 3" micro usb cord that you plug in to the side of the phone and then place in the stand - I'll see if I can find my old LG Dare one which was very similiar and post a photo...

my moto q dock actually replaces the mini USB plug with a regular micro USB plug that you can plug in to and AC to USB wall plug

I didnt see the disclaimer about not being the proper stand for the Incredible. But that being said, it would make more sense to me to have the charging area in the base of the unit and the Incredible can be placed on its side to use the stand. I just like minimizing wires, it seems to me that this stand only adds one. Personal preference I guess, and also some experience with the Droid may influence me there.

I had one of these "charging cradles" for my Omnia b4 going with the Incredible. It looks virtually identical, so it must be from the same manufacturer. No USB plug at the bottom of the cradle since the Omnia was a side plug. Instead, it had an attached short USB cord which you plug in and then slide the phone into the cradle. It worked great! And I loved having a charged battery ready to go at any time.

Very glad to see this!

You know, I was thinking the same thing, so I went and grabbed the charger for my previous Moto Droid. The problem we'd have with that would be that the volume buttons are also on the left side, so they would be inaccessible in landscape mode if the phone had to lay on it's left side for the charging port. :( I don't know about you guys, but I like to use the media player at night before I crash. Hit a playlist and go to bed. The Droid was well-equipped for that, but the Incredible seems like it may only really work in portrait mode unless you get one of the cradles like that Mik...whatever it's called. But then you still have to use a cable to plug it in so it's not a drop-in solution, which is what I'm more interested in. The Lego dock I see in this thread looks like something I could build and it's pretty uncommon, I'd guess. I may give that a shot, looks fun. :D
