Stuck at "Checking Connection"

I recently rooted then later unrooted my K7, after the unroot I noticed my phone wouldn't connect to any Google apps (YouTube, Play Store, etc.). I knew it was because the root changed the hosts file causing the connection issues (had the problem before but resolved it) but, I was going out of town and I didn't have time to fix it. When I was away I ended up changing my passcode and locking myself out of the phone to the point where I had to sign into my Google account to unlock it. The phone was set to my old Google account I no longer knew the password too (I believe the connection issue would've also affected that). I master reset the phone being told that would fix it. Once it had been reset to factory it gets stuck at "Checking connection this may take a while" during the setup. I believe it's still becasue the hosts file were changed from the root but I'm not 100% sure. I can't connect the phone to my computer since it's disabled at the setup, so my question is.
Is there anyway I can enable usb usage from the setup and edit root files from a computer? Or somehow skip the wifi connection setup? Anyone have any similar problems that were solved in different ways?

Any possible solutions are greatly appreciated.
