Okay, I'm working on a pet project or transferring old home movies and such from VHS and/or made yourself DVD's to a digital format. We all know that VHS tape wears out and my DVD player is becoming fussy about what it will and won't play. Digital format never wears out and allows for indexing and cataloging making things easy to find instead of having to dig through self written labels.
I'd like to put together an Android box that functions as a hub of sorts. Has all your normal Android apps, Chromecast, YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Video and such. But also something that I could plug a USB Hard Drive into that contains all my videos. I don't care so much if it is a direct thing or uses the cloud like Plex and/or Kodi. I'd favor a simple direct connection between device and hard drive with some type of catalog. I'm leaning towards the Nvidia Shield as I hear wonderful things about it and it has the ability to play some games which I wouldn't mind every so often...
