Just a slight correction there. It would be

Where dir is the name of a directory located under /data.

OK.. Just a Headsh-Up:

I've mostly stayed silent in hopes of Root and development. This being said, I've a close friend who has one and it's a total piece is schitt. They don't do anything but call &amp; text but almost never get notifications, phone calls, texts.. Almost none send out either. Phone calls included. Don't waste your breath or efforts on this garbage. I'm usually happy with ZTE devices but this model is horrible

Looking on the plus side, you've probably got one of the most secure phones on the market, in terms of its vulnerability to hacking

When I get home around 9 or so I'll see about the adb shell and also I'm sure it's been said before but what's with adb sideload? I know it requires a signed zip, is there anything we could do like unpacking a signed zip, change the script then repack with the original signing intact thus allowing packages to be flashed via stock recovery?

I will agree with the 'silver lining' comment. All that, and I found with an octo-core manager app in the Play Store that works pretty well (free version=noticeable improvement, paid module works to I'd say, 90%). Just like my Duraforce Pro, the zmax pro is lagged down by the system CPU management function, compounded by the bloat to a small degree.
The *paid* ($2.99)app I mentioned made a HUGE difference in stability and speed when implemented with nixing some battery optimization settings. It's a pain in the ass having to do all of this, but I'm finding the Zmax pro is not nearly as bogged down as some others. It COULD be a great phone indeed... If root happens first f%$ing thing I'm going after is CPU settings that are literally crippling this phone.

It was the same with the LG Stylo (on Boost), some were good and some were total pieces of crap that needed to be exchanged.

It's just the luck of the draw with these cheap phones or so it seems.

Is this octo-core manager available without root, or was this done using temp root? Another question, things that are changed while you have temp root, that would normally require root, do they stick after a reboot?

After reboot everything gets set back to normal in terms of root and apps that require the root permissions.

Damn. Well at least the octa core manager works. I tested the performance gain with GTA:San Andreas. Before, I couldnt get past about medium graphics settings (overall) without lag and stuttering. Now I can max everything out all the way and it still plays as smooth as it would on a console.

Right now Messi2050 is working on root and is very close to having it. He needs beta testers. If you don't care about bricking your device PM him and ask to join the hangouts.

Yes, that is the app. The first three basic options are free, and may work better if you also disable the android battery optimization settings for the particular app/game you want. (Under battery in system settings)
The three extreme settings are $2.99 EACH(!) Yeah that bites. I purchased the extreme stability and got even more satisfactory results from it.
Under battery optimization settings, I also disabled quite a few more like keyboard, music, audio controls, anything I could find I felt contributed to system lag.
After toggling a bunch off, seemed it was getting faster. Yeah it warns your battery may drain quicker, but I haven't noticed any major change in consumption. Hell our battery is big enough to handle a bigger workload anyway.

Download it and try it. Don't need root for it. Only gripe I have is that at times it gets killed off, and you have to keep it running in background. But when its up and stays running its worth it.

Yeah the app gets killed by the o s after a period of time. So 2.99 for that, I'll pass..
What has been my speed up mod sort to speak is a combination of three apps.
Trinity kernel toolbox
Setcpu
No root cleaner
The first two require root but some functions work.
Funny, the phone did speed up after I maxed the cpu to 1516 mhz. The big cores only of course.

Another way to speed up this phone are these two apps.
Adguard premium
DNS changer
Under firewall settings you can restrict background internet data on all apps and remove ads in apps and browser.
I always use google's DNS 8.8.8.8 for faster browsing
I thought root was the only way to change till I found the DNS app.
