Metro pcs will replace the zmaxpro on Aug 28th. They will now sell the blade zmax. If you want nougat report your phone stolen and use the insurance to get it for 50 bucks lol.
My phone stopped charging a few days ago... I have to have the cable at the right angle for it to charge.. I was planning on getting a new phone anyways. So the 'new' zmax blade doesn't bother me that much.
However it's basically the same phone with a larger battery and dual cameras...

Yeah your right. I did get the phone for free anyway lol. Can't expect anymore outta them.

If you're willing just grab a Oneplus 3 used. Or if you want new. Moto G5.

$50 for insurance claim? I just sold my Zmax for over $100 on eBay. Only took two weeks to sell it, but with everything included, being unlocked and almost pristine, it was a steal. Just in time too, now that the legit same uglier version will sell for $130. Now a NIB Zmax Pro is worth $50 tops. Shame....
And WTF is up with the Max blade? It looks like a poo that fell into a panini press! Sure hope that bigger battery doesn't split cases open after a month ;)

The OnePlus 3 and G5 have smaller screens, smaller battery capacity, and cameras aren't as many megapixels as the new ZTE Blade Z. Those would be horrible alternatives for my needs.
>Cameras aren't as many megapixels
This argument, no offense, is invalid. It's been shown time and time again that "megapixels" doesn't make the phone, or standalone camera's image better. It's about the sensor.

>Smaller Screens
Yeah, that I'll give you.

>Smaller Battery Capacity
Memory and Battery Management is much much better on the OP3 and the MG5. They last days on a single charge, as would the ZTE Zmax Pro. My Zmax and my OP3 last the same amount of time.

Once again this is all up to opinion, but just a couple thoughts.

I'm shooting for my original goal. I want the axon 7. I still think this is the best slightly future proof phone you can get without spending 600 to 800 dollars.

I agree with you. Everyone has slightly different needs and I agree that the jury is out on the quality of camera on the BLADE Z until we actually can try it and see if the sensor does a good job. It's not only about a greater megapixel rating. Let's hope for the best.

Totally agree. Awesome cheap phones are a blessing. Looking at you, Moto G line. The ZMax Pro is great aswell.

Wandering OT isn't it? Have we all admitted defeat on rooting the Zmax Pro?
After b20 they have updated to the latest secure boot security updates.

They have patched any and all known exploits and have future proofed by locking partitions to root access.

It's smart security wise, but makes it bad for consumers who want more access.

Temp root is still available, but it's not readily available due to the lack of time the system gives before it reboots and causes a file system clean to remove modified files.

I've given up on the ZTE Zmax Pro getting root a long time ago. I got this phone for Christmas in 2016. Now it's 2017 and the year is getting close to ending. I bought a Samsung Galaxy J7 and it's rootable. I suggest everyone to just get a rootable phone.

It's not about having a rooted phone, it's about rooting it. I have a J7, HTC 626, and a few tablets that are fully rooted, but they aren't nearly as fun as breaking a phone no one else has yet.

I've been having a look through the CVEs lately, and stumbled on a ton of codec exploits, generally AVC. If we can figure out how the AVC decoder is being used to exploit (it's a total system compromisation), we can have root running in no time. Back in 2012, AVC took a massive hit, so there should be a lot of documentation on it as well.

@GarnetSunset if Broadpwn is proving to be too challenging, we can work on this. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to these kinds of exploits

*Edit From what I can tell, it's a buffer overflow/underflow exploit using AVCs pixel pipeline memory allocation scheme. So a specially crafted video with very specific pixels (that should be... Fun) should allow arbitrary code execution in that particular buffer.
