Why do think they don't? They've had that for a lot of years now and any/every new phone (for years) is capable of receiving WEA's.
Here's a link to Verizon's WEA page, if you expand LG you will not see the G6 but all the previous G's are there, the page hasn't been updated I'd guess.
But yeah, Verizon has them and they do work (and scare the crap out of you when the go off).

I second the welcome to the forums. Rather than use a carrier alert, I use Pro Weather Alert from Google Play ($1.99 - a free Weather Alert is also available). I use the Star Trek Red Alert Klaxon for a unique severe weather alert tone. People who hear it look at me for an explanation when it goes off. I just tell them its a severe weather alert from the National Weather Service.
