Wi-Fi band select in WiFi settings?

As a personal preference I avoid or atleast try to avoid 2.4G Wireless Networks. At home I have our 2.4G off. Just 5G.

Many Enterprise environments that use Access Points (like I do) don't have Seperate SSID's for 5G Networks.

Is there a way to force a specific band on the Samsung S8?

Yes I am aware you can change that at home with any average home Access Point or Router and specify the name on each band. But that's irrelevant to my question.

I have tried App's like WiFi 5G and WiFi Band. WiFi band will switch it to 5G at the moment but not if I roam to another AP I manually have to go back and change it.

Hate to be the grammar Nazi but just so you're aware, your references to 2.4G and 5G are incorrect in this context, you should be referring to them as 2.4GHz and 5GHz, as those relate directly to types of WiFi networks. You're probably thinking of 4G and 5G cellular networks, the distinction being WiFi (2.4 and 5 gigahertz) and cellular (4th and 5th generation) are two completely different types of wireless signals. If you've been doing online searches to solve any kind of connectivity problem, you don't want to add in confusing mismatches with wrong terminology.
But getting back to your query, could you be more specific as to why you want to filter out 2.4GHz networks? Since 2.4GHz networks are still much more prevalent than 5GHz networks (there's still a lot of legacy hardware out there that are 2.4GHz only), seems like you intentionally want to reduce the number of available WiFi networks to connect to.

I should have referred to it as 2.4GHz or 5GHz yes so my apologies. I used to be a grammar nazi on that before but I figured I got the point accross.
Aside from that to be "Politically Correct" on other forums I see 2.5GHz being a common reference for 5GHz. Which puts alot of confusion.

Anyhow. To put it bluntly, I find alot of Interference/speed issues with the 2.4GHz band and would much rather not see them in my list of Networks and keep my phone/devices only on Modern 5GHz Networks. If I don't see the Network using the 5GHz band. Then I won't use it. But that issue isn't solvable with Networks using the Same SSID on both bands. If the range was weak for 5GHz operation then dont use anything at all. So I want to, "Yes" intentionally ruduce the number of networks to connect to.

If only that option was still available in WiFi settings on newer android Operating Systems. I had an older phone that did that and I had it set like that from day of purchase and hadn't touched it once till I got my S8 when I looked for it.

I'll give a real scenario.
My Carrier has mobile hotspots.
This uses EAP-SIM Authentication.

Their Network SSID Broadcasts 'BELL_WIFI'. The Access Points use the same SSID on the 2.4GHz/5GHz Network. I would prefer the 5GHz signal and stay on that signal only when I am nearby it.

However that decision seems to be only considered by the phone. And that can't be changed by anything as these are on the SIM card. Then explain how I can choose to use the 5GHz version of the Network. You can't. Which is why I want to find out if there is any way of doing so.

This is more sympathy than answer. I have the same concern. In my house, the 5GHz band is much more reliable. I'm in a rowhouse amongst 6 other units with the usual gaggle of everyone's network devices within range. I'd like to indicate a preference in my phone, but I've had to do the thing you didn't want: name the two bands differently on my router. That works great as long as I'm home. Doesn't answer your question in the least for roaming, though.
