EMUI updated even though Ive pressed later

So I just came into my room to see my phone updating. Autoupdates are off, and Ive pressed "Later" the couple of times EMUI harassed me to update. Is this normal? Im starting to get srsly tired of this spy network google, huawei and the rest of the ****s created. Can someone answer me why my phone is autoupdating with total disregard to its users preferance? Is it so that if you postpone an update enough the phone will simply do it anyway???

No I havent as there isnt anything to read, there are only three button options. Nor do I see what the other options have to do with the one I selected. You seem to be trying to make me let this go even though you didnt really answer any of my questions so Im gonna go ahead and assume youre one of the trolls constantly hacking me, trying to cover you tracks. Feel free to disprove that by actually answering the questions. Who said it was a security update btw? If youre just gonna spew out useless shit to inflate your posting counter (I bet youve already been banned and thats why you have a new account troll) feel free to not, and actually let someone who knows what theyre talking about answer. Pathetic kiwi

You might want to reach out to Huawei's support to see if they can answer why the phone may have installed an update automatically rather than waiting for you to confirm the installation. It's possible that critical security patches will only be delayed for so long - but, again, that's likely something which Huawei would be best suited to answer.

My Huawei Mate 10 has a pending update, I've left it as "Later". Will see if it automatically updates or not.

Thank you guys alot for caring and trying, more appreciated than youd probably expect! I wasnt aware that it was something Huawei had control over, thats how useless I am on phones. And as a matter of fact I did register a new Huawei account the other day. Ive had the phone for over a year but I didnt register a Huawei account until a couple of days ago because I caved in wanting to download a theme or two... Now ofc there is no way of opting out or retracting my agreement.

My Mate 10 notified me of a pending update on Monday morning so I tapped "Later", it's now Wednesday afternoon, and it hasn't tried to self update during that time. Although there is a notification badge in Settings, that can't be cleared until this update is applied. Which I'll do tonight, once I've backedup the phone. I will add I've got a China variant Mate 10, and I'm in China, if that makes any difference for Huawei device updates.

In general Android doesn't force updates (my wife's phone has had one "available" for a very long time) but there are exceptions. Some US carriers force updates routinely, but I believe all manufacturers can do so if necessary (e.g. Samsung did with the infamous Note 7).

Of course this could also be a glitch rather than a policy decision. Hopefully Huawei will at least be able to explain.

We have our missing link! Thanks alot everyone, especially mikedt! I do restart the phone quite often because I use Orbot and it tends to crash sometimes. I probably restarted it myself before going out of the room to cook and forgot by the time I came back. I also seldom pay attention to the notes about updating because I find it exhausting being asked all the time so I usually press Later before even a second has passed. Once again thx for all the help!
