I have had a older Tab E given to me . the model number is SM-T337T it has Android version 7.1.1 , i tried to up date it to at least Android 9 , but it will not work , it there any ways i can ?

tried to do some of it but this device says with the Samsung Experiance is well been taken off these devices which is not good i was hoping it would stay the Experiance ver is 8.5

the security patch will not update from the date August 1, 2017

is there any legal work around to make this device more current ?

thank you for any help

nope....unless the tablet can be rooted and you flash a custom rom that has android 9 baked in.

and unfortunately you can't root the tablet any ways, after a quick search on xda's site.

so you are stuck with what you have.
Thank you for your help ill just use it for like a few tv apps then , and hope i can get a better one , just as bad as my non upgradable color nook , i got crap and can not afford any thing else just get people hamy downs

It's the way with older devices. At some point updates stop (the lower-end the device the quicker that happens), so if you are using hand-me-downs from other people it's unlikely you will ever get updates (unless there is one that the original owner didn't get round to installing).

That said, lack of updates doesn't make a device useless. I still manage to use my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014), which despite the name is a 2013 device (maybe Samsung followed the lead from the old computer magazines, which always put the following month's date on the cover for some reason?). That got its last update (to 5.1) about 4 years ago, but for the things I use it for it still works.
