Can A Hacker Control My Phone Remotely?

I am new to this forum. Also, I am not that tech-savvy and need help from someone who is. I believe that my phone was hacked. Can a person remote in and manipulate my phone without me knowing? I know that it can be done on my PC or laptop remotely by Geek Squad when I give them permission. Geek Squad can remotely control my entire computer just like I can while sitting in front of it.

Thanks for your help!

Only if the hacker has physical interaction with the device itself.
Or if you install an app from an untrustworthy website.
But not remotely, if that was the case, every phone in the world would be compromised

Thanks for the response. So, if I accidentally downloaded an app from an untrustworthy location then a person could remote in and control every part of my phone the same way I can? Is this what you mean? Like I said I am not that tech-savvy and just trying to understand. Thanks again!

Technically, yes.
So only install apps from the Google Play Store.
There are other sites that can be trusted but at least stick to the play store and you will be good to go.
Also when installing apps, check the permissions, even some in the play store are iffy....

Ahhh. OK.

What do you mean by "check permissions"?

Could my phone be hacked through the app IFunny? I went through my google history and see that app being used a number of times per day which is funny because I never use that app. I think my son sent me a meme once through there and I had to download that app to see it. I think I only used it that one time but now like I said I see it a number of times per day in my google history. Thoughts?

permissions is just that. every app on your phone will need permission to access parts of your phone. you can see the list of permissions for each app by going into your phone settings and look under apps. there should be a permissions manager as well.

and no i doubt ifunny would have anything malicious. hacking a phone requires someone actually targeting your phone. it can't be done by just going to a suspicious website. most places where you can download things to your phone, 99% will only download malware in the form of adware. adware is when ads will appear on your phone non-stop.

and your google history can be not only your phone, but also from any chrome browser or google search on any computer or device.

why do you think your phone is hacked?

I think it was hacked because weird things have been going on like photos sent through Facebook Messenger that I did not send. A friend request was sent and accepted by someone I do not know. At the same time that happened got a notification from FB that there was a login from a different location or device and then 2 posts were made that went against their guidelines. In addition, files were moved on my phone from file to file or app to app and then deleted from the cache. Plus there have been a number of attempts to log into my online bank account and I get notifications from LastPass that a critical change has taken place to my credit among other things. I am just trying to figure out who has done all this and if it was through some program etc. that they were able to gain access to my phone without me knowing.

Thanks.

Every one of the things you mention involves Facebook. So the simplest explanation would be that your FB account was hacked rather than your phone.

Go into the security and privacy settings of your Facebook account, turn on 2 factor authentication, check all devices that have logged into your account and remove and report any that are suspicious.

(One warning: the location they say you connect from may be taken from your IP address rather than your device, especially if you don't give Facebook location access. And if you use a VPN, including some ad blockers, this could mean that they show you as logged in with the right device but from an odd location. Something to consider when deciding whether a login is suspicious or not).

Well, of course, a hacker can control your phone remotely. Most times, hackers look to get your personal information from your phone, but sometimes they take control of your phone. This happened to me once, and I had no idea what to do. I turned my phone off in time, and they didn't manage to take anything from me. I didn't know how to defend myself from this, and the only good idea was to hire a hacker of my own. I looked for the best cheapest hacking services, and I managed to find a hacker who deleted the virus from my phone. It was scary, but I try to be more careful with security now.
