Froyo consensus?

I think there is a guy in every town now that fixes screens. The iphone guy here does any touch screen.
sorry dude.

set plug ins to on demand in the browser settings, or off if you wish.

anyone who doesn't notice a serious advantage to 2.2 over 2.1 didn't install it right.
I've went through lots of flashes, radios, and kernels. A factory fresh 2.2 nexus is pretty damn good.
There are some pretty neat things on this phone (2.2) that att and the like would never let you have.
just my opinion though. I wouldn't trade it for anything else at the moment.

I have noticed a few problems, my volume is messed up now, it seems like when I turn it down when I get to half volume the sound is almost completely gone also the video camera when you hit the red button to start recording it makes a bad messed up sound like a bad sound file was used a staticy sound if you keep turning the video on and off it eventually goes away and comes back the crackling sound is annoying, also the video itself does not seem as smooth anymore and seems jerky even with everything closed down or fresh phone wipe continues to not be as stable maybe the video is causing the messed up sound with recording button in some way related I dunno but performance seems to have taken a hit in the video/camera area. I was also having problems receiving any updates at all in market for any of the 30 apps I have installed just wasn't working and also paid apps I have purchased are no longer showing up at all in market, im guessing they need updates from the developers. One last thing the battery seems to be going down fast even if the refresh is set to 6 hours or more on any widgets it continues to tank, I have just unplugged it from 100% recharge and its already down to 83% in about an hours time of being unplugged, I did not have this problem with 2.1.

I noticed this as well. My phone is barely dropping a few percents in the span of several hours. Much better battery life with 2.2.

I agree here! Battery improved in 2.2. But remember.. we are on the "test" build of Froyo.. so hopefully the final build will fix any lingering problems in the "test" build. Also the camera and video functions are sooooooo much better! I can take close up pics of stuff with the flash on and you don't see that over exposure bright white on the picture.. it's awesome! I love how you can turn on the LED FLASH to use as a light for the video!

Apps that aren't working right, just need to get updated to work properly with froyo. Handcent for one, works fine in Froyo, sending and receiving texts. But when I try to load a background image in the threads section settings, handcent force closes every time. Didn't do that at 2.1. I need my Android pissing on Apple pic lol!

I was running Cyanogen 5.0.6 with the pershoot OC/UV kernel+desire camera and while I agree that 2.2 smokes stock 2.1, in comparison to my mod'ed config I found the following:
- No noticeable difference in speed of 'most' apps - maybe cause I was OC'd before?
- Homescreen actually seems just a tad less responsive than my old setup. When I first set up CM + OC/UV, I was actually impressed with how snappy it was (miss that now).
- Browser is definately faster especially noticiable on google reader/docs/etc.
- Camera is a nice upgrade in UI but still not as good as the desire's touch to focus and facedetection. (I miss the desire's camera)
- More free memory reported in taskkiller - don't know if this was just a reporting error in 2.1 and I can actually benefit from this.
- WiFi Hotspot is nice - but I had this on my old setup (the main reason I rooted)
- SWYPE won't work (miss that big time)
- Jury is still out on the Battery life, gets me through the day but can't say it's any better/worse.

while the little tweaks in the email, messaging and such are nice, there were little tweaks in CM that I miss too, like Bat%, color trackball, etc.
Maybe the final release of 2.2 will really make a difference, but I personally can't wait to see what kind of magic the ROM cookers can work with 2.2.

So far, I'm impressed. I had a lot of Live Wallpapers that would lag the UI really bad when sliding between screens. Even though the Live Wallpaper, itself, didn't lag, the UI would. That problem is no more, thanks to 2.2

Also, I wet myself a little when I opened Advanced Task Manager and noticed 300MB of memory available!

I'm really anxious for a few certain devs to update their Live Walls, the one I like the most is no longer supported (NexusMod by Chris Soyars) and there's another one called "Nexus Revamped" that doesn't even show up when I search the market anymore, due to the fact that the market is filtered based on device/OSversion.

Other than that... I'm very happy.

EDIT: I'm worried that Devs will be slow to update for 2.2 because there are a lot of devices that don't have it yet, aren't getting it for quite a while, or will never have it.

Nexus Revamped is my app :) some of the users brought it to my attention that it wasn't appearing in the market with froyo, so I changed some settings and it should now be visible again. Enjoy.

So far I have had a great experience with FroYo. The couple of apps I had that no longer worked after updating have been fixed by the devs after a quick email to them. I, too, had an issue with Swype beta, but a reinstall fixed that. I was told to remove and reinstall all my widgets (supposedly to stop any battery drain), so I did that right off and haven't noticed any difference in the battery. It might be slightly better, but not enough to write home about. I found a thread on XDA to enable the apps to SD that works for non rooted phones, so I'm able to enjoy some new apps finally. The market seems to be updating for FroYo use now, because some of the apps I couldn't find are now there (for example, Epicurious). For a long time I didn't get why anyone needed a colored trackball, but now that I see it (albeit only for SMS and phone right now), I rather do like it. I particularly like the full rotation, works great for the lefties. Overall a great experience.

Mind posting the link? :)

Sure ... Force all apps to SD on FROYO - xda-developers

After doing this, any market app installed automatically goes to the SD card. You can move existing apps to SD, but it's best not to move any with widgets you use. Otherwise, you can freely move apps to the SD card and back to the phone at will.
