"this battery is not a approved battery. please use the approved battery. what is that? its the same battery that came in the phone.

This just started happening.. i have to turn my phone off to charge or else this comes up when i plug my phone into my charger... wtf is going on. I've never changed or even removed the battery.. only thing ive ever done to it is take it to sprint and got the software update.

Same as IOWA... happened to me one night.

Powered down the phone, popped the battery out for about 10 seconds, put it back in, turned the phone on, and put it back on the charger. It's been fine ever since.

The charger circuits on Lithium Ion batteries are pretty advanced, due to the nature of batteries, and their tendency to explode if charged improperly.

If the charger circuit gets confused and thinks its not the right battery, it won't charge it, as a safety precaution.

So after a good month or so of not seeing this error, it started popping back up for me. I decided to call Sprint after resets on my end didn't resolve anything, and the tech on the phone didn't really have anything new for me to try. They did ask me if I've used a car charger, so maybe that's causing problems? They made an appointment for me to come in and swap the phone out tonight.

Shouldn't make a difference. He's just grasping at straws.

i just unboxed my moment last night and updated to 2.1 and i am already getting the battery error message. i put the samsung battery in it that came with it and charged it completely before first use. anyone figure out why this is happening and/or how to remedy it? i pulled the battery and let it sit for a while and they seems to have made it happy for now, but it sounds like it will come back from what others have said.

Nope. Just another reason why I won't buy a samsung smartphone for a long time... if ever again.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

:cool:Ok...went here: Samsung i220 Code Cell Phone Accessories and Battery and found a 1600mah i220 battery compatible with Moment, Behold II, and Instinct HD. I decided to take a chance and for $22 get another hour or so of battery life...Got the battery, it was a little thicker, but fit with the existing battery cover...worked fine for several hours, but when I went to recharge it got the same messgae "..not approved".. and the charging shut down...

This is probably why there are no extended batteries for the Moment...and probably why there won't be..

Good find. That's lame btw. When I had my winmo lineup I lived off extra extended batteries. I miss them very much as I am a power user.

I 2 am a power user...have had several Samsungs...BLADE to MOMENT...never have I not been able to get an extended battery...I love the Moment, nut its a good thing I didn't trade in my INSTICT....I hope someone comes up with a work-around for the "approved battery" syndrome....this using only one app per day on the MOMENT is getting old...truely lame !
