Root [ROM] Bugless Beast V0.2.1 Android 2.2 FRF57

I was using 0.2.1 for about a day and gave up (because of other various bugs) and went back to 0.1. However, I just started to notice that my GenieWidget isn't working at all either. Selecting the actual app gives me outdated location, weather (as of a few hours ago), and outdated news.

People on NexusOne are reporting this issue as well: Nexus One Genie Widget problem connecting to network?!? - Android Help. I think Pete may be right -- it's a global Google problem, not a problem with the ROM.

EDIT: One thing to note, for future reference. Pete just reminded me that he disabled "use wireless networks" by default and you need to enable it in Settings>Location & security to use GenieWidget -- but that doesn't help with the current Google outage issue.

OK going from v.1 to v.2.1 I wiped data and cache.. Now none of my apps are repopulating automatically. Anyone else having this problem? I was getting used to froyo getting them all back automatically I'm NOT doing it manually anymore (PAIN IN THE ASS). Is this because Pete disabled the setup screen? I've logged into my google account but I still am not seeing my apps show up:(

I enabled Location on my phone as I thought that might solve the issue, with no luck. I am running NexBeast FRF57 V0.1.1 with weather/news displaying correctly and updating every 30 minutes.

EDIT: I just realized that I never signed into my Google account after loading v0.2.1, I had to go to my contacts and enter my Gmail credentials. Could this be causing the problem with news/weather? Having the app on screen before logging into Gmail? Long shot, but I figured I'd ask.

I have noticed that it shuts down when I try and wake it up. When I press the power button, it comes on without a lock screen, but very dim. Then, it just shuts down. Also, it will shut down when the power button is pressed and the lock screen comes on, but is also dim and unresponsive.

With the new Exchange compatibility, it needs to reset the security settings every times it boots, which is a bit odd. Then again, this is the first time I got my work Exchange account to work on my phone.

Any thoughts on these?

I have the exact problem, when I wake from sleep it restarts almost all the time.

Do these issues occur at any time, or only right after you've rebooted your phone? I see these same symptoms on 2.2 ROMs, but only after a reboot...even though 2.2 (BB v.2) is running perfectly on my phone before the reboot. After a reboot I run into the issues you note above and it typically takes me a minimum of two to three more reboots to get my phone stable again. Is that what's happening to you?

For me, it seems like every 3 or 4 times I try to wake it up it'll just shutdown totally. I have not rebooted it voluntarily at all, though I could try it a few times. What is weird is if I open and shut the keyboard to wake it up, it doesn't seem to crash, so I'm not sure what is going on. This is only day one on this ROM.

OK...very different from me. I'm totally stable once I go through my reboot dance, never have any problems until the next reboot.

quick off topic question: i know its been discussed but i tried searching and can't seem to find the answer:

When i went from v0.1 to v0.2 back to v0.1 i somehow lost my Adobe Flash..i still have the file but it doesn't want to install, so it probably got damaged/wiped somewhere between the reflash installs ( i wipe data each time) so i was wondering if there was a direct link that i can download adobe flash for my android from the adroid browser as i left my usb cable at home :(

This was happening to me and I thought it was a bug but it's not. For me at least it was the shutdown script. I'm a large guy with large hands and when I would hit the power button to turn the screen on, the palm of my hand would hit the camera button ever so slightly prior to hitting the power button and boom my phone would shutdown. The easiest way to fix this is to use root explorer and go to /system/bin/, find the shutdown script and either delete or move it to the Sdcard, if you want to possibly use it again later. My phone has not shutdown once since I did this.

Is anybody else having issues that when you restart the phone that apps dont appear properly, like everytime I restart the phone all the apps that have been installed to the SD card have no picture except some generic looking android picture with the name of what it is below. Also got a problem with widgets not showing up in the widget menu to be able to put them on screen, and also with apps not showing up in the app drawer after a restart. It seems to be a install to SD Card issue, as when I move the apps from being installed on the SD card back to being on the phone and restart it everything is fine and they popup and the widgets work as they should, so its something in there.

*Okay, I found this issue is simply from having things install on the SD card, when there moved back to the phone everything is fine. Pete just needs to disable the App2SD automaticially instlaling to the card.

I talked with him about this today. I believe he's already worked on a change for the shut down options, which will involve the power button and the keyboard (but the options may be different than you describe), to be included in his next release, although I don't know exactly when that will be.

And this is why we all love Pete!
