Hi - I received notice from Tracfone that my Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom does not support VOLTE and that I need to upgrade to new device else lose service. I am in the continental USA and setup with AT&T sim. This phone is 4G LTE so this doesn't make sense. Also people in other countries (like india?) are using this device using VOLTE, however my device doesn't have the VOLTE option in the network settings menu like theirs does.

Can anyone help with this? How can I keep my Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom working with Tracfone service?

Is there any hope? Any updates, rooting, customizing that I can do?

Info on phone:

Model: ASUS_Z01HD / ze553kl
Up to date with latest updates
Android version: 8.0.0
S/W Info: WW_80.30.76.74_20190319
baseband version: M3.10.47.23-Hades_080001
Kernel version: 3.18.66-perf-g201b669 80.30.76.74 #1
Build number: OPR1.170623.026.WW_user_80.30.76.74_20190319
Uses AT&T tower (verified by texting to my email address... shows @att...).

Tracfone Wireless is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that partners with four major cell phone companies: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint.

Although Tracfone doesn’t own any wireless network infrastructure, it has agreements with the Big 4 that allow the company to offer service to its millions of customers.

When you sign up for Tracfone, you’ll get service on one of those major networks, not all of them. It’s based on your device and location.

The carriers approve what phones they support VoLTE for, unfortunately not every 4G LTE phone will support VoLTE.

AT&T phones that work with VoLTE:

The Zenfone 3 Zoom is not on that list so it wont work with any AT&T carrier.

Is the phone unlocked? If Verizon or T-Mobile support VoLTE on it you could get a Tracfone SIM that uses one of their networks.

Check if your current phone is compatible with Verizon:

Check if your phone works with T-Mobile:

You can also contact Tracfone an see if you are eligible for a free phone.

If you are an existing customer, and have been for a period of time, they will gladly provide a free phone to keep you as a customer.

In fact, everytime the technology has changed, I have received a free phone to replace whater I had at the time.

I just got a friend a free Moto e, and it is actually a rather nice phone- especially considering that it is free.

Go onto their website and see what devices are available.
