Android P

I've not seen any announcement, and wouldn't expect there to be one yet.

Most major manufacturers give 2 year's of system updates to their flagships, so I think the answer is "probably". I've seen in several places that the G5 will get Oreo, which would make Android P for the G6 likely. But assuming it does happen it will probably be this time next year before it drops.

Thank you!

While most manufacturers try to update flagship devices at least one version, there's never a guarantee. There could be unforeseen incompatibilities which makes an upgrade impractical. FWIW LG appears to be rather slow in the upgrade dept. If Android P is high on yuor priority the best thing to do is to either wait for a device to ship with P already as the OS, or buy a Pixel.

Not really.Oreo seems pretty ok for now. It's a shame that the phones are capable of running more up to date software, but manufacturers don't allow it.

It's not a matter of "allowing" it. Manufacturer's have to dedicate the resources to develop the updates for the specific device and frankly, sometimes the economics just make sense (to the company) whether the device is capable or not. I'm not seeing a huge benefit with Oreo. Nougat was perfectly fine, too.

Considering the G6 received Android Oreo almost nine months after it originally came out. I am not expecting Android P till some time in 2019.
