    Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone has come from an S2 to a Nexus? I had my phone stolen and they are out of stock on the S2 so have agreed to send me an appropriate alternative and it seemed like a fair trade, quite excited for ICS to be honest as i have been on android since the good old days of 1.5 and have loved being part of the evolution!!!!

The only negative i can see on paper over the S2 is the camera doesn't seem to be as good.....anyone happy / unhappy with any of the other features?

    Cheers,

more megapixels =\= better. The gnex camera has a faster shutter. And can take pictures WHILE recording video. To me, that is better!

I'm not a picture taking enthusiast so it's not any kind of a big deal for me. But imo, anyone who tells me it's a deal breaker because of the 5mp cam is absurd. Mainly because what is the need for something greater than that? When was the last time somebody printed out a poster sized picture from a cell phone camera to hang it up on their living rooms walls?

A phone is a talking device that can also take pictures. A phone is not a picture taking device that you can talk with.

The camera is perfectly adequate to view on a phone or laptop which are the only places 98% of the people are going to view them in. You'll be plenty happy with all of the other features of the phone, that the camera would be an complete after thought.

But to note: The instant shutter speed is really cool, you can just click away non-stop as fast as your finger can tap to take pics

Other big thing is the lack of sd card

that doesn't really bother me. All photos are in the cloud and all i use these days is spotify for music!

Does anyone know if it feels much heavier? I loved how light the S2 was :D

depends on which SGS2 and GNex you're comparing here. in general across the board, though, it feels very nice in the hand...not too heavy and not too light. i do, however, prefer the GSM GNex to the VZW GNex. VZW is heavier and you can tell, too.

UK versions (GSM)! I thought they all had the same dimensions etc?

The LTE version is slightly thicker and a little heavier.

I came from the International GSII, one of my favorite phones, I do miss it sometimes, but not because the Galaxy Nexus isn't awesome. I love the stock 4.0 and the phone itself is gorgeous to me, and it is extremely fast.

I just liked my GSII as well, cannot go wrong with either, the only complaint about the GSII was touchwiz.

    I have both.

    The SII:
    - has a better camera (mp are not everything, regardless, the camera takes better pics than the nexus)
    - has more space, you can add an external SD.
    - has better internal specs, at the least it has a better quality CPU.

    The Nexus:
    - has a better screen resolution
    - looks great with no physical buttons.
    - ICS is the difference.

I love the SII, but I'm using the Nexus as my main phone mainly because of ICS. The SII will get an update to ICS soon, but it look like TouchWiz, not the ICS you see on the Nexus.

I'd be happy with a Nexus if I were you (I'd be equally happy with an SII as well tho!) :)

That is not correct, it's the other way around. The Nexus has a better quality and more efficient CPU

I also have and use both. It is outstanding how Google keeps the phone up and current on contacts and schedule. The Nexus is a little big for my tastes. I miss the 8mp camera and the SD card but everyone needs to take note that DROPBOX is now new for ICS and works in the Nexus like you would not believe!

So it's already pre-installed and has native support. i have never used Dropbox but i understand how it all works and that sounds pretty cool
