Root [AT&T] battery does not last more than half day

Help, I have a note 3 and when I first bought it the battery lasted fine but last couple months the battery visibly runs out just sitting idle. I have gps, Internet, blue tooth off and close apps and it still runs out in half a day now. The problem is continuing to get worse and now I can't go anywhere without finding somewhere to charge.
Is this an OS problem or poor battery in general that has degraded unusually fast. The phone is only 8 months old.

I've got my phone to where it won't drain 1% over night, with no use. This is with leaving GPS on at all times.

Here's what I do.

1. Root phone to use the following apps..

2. I first start by managing data when the phone screen is off. There are many apps that do similar things. The app I use it Auto Data. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=auto.data Basically, once the screen goes off, my data connections are shut off. Once I turn the screen on, I instantly have data again. I'd play around with these apps and see what you like best. A few others are: 2 Battery, Juice Defender, Smart Network,

3. Now to kill those pesky apps that constantly drain battery after shutting off the screen and data. I first install App Quarantine https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ramdroid.appquarantine Once instsinstalled, freeze all the apps you don't want to run in the first place. Mostly bloatware that comes with the phone.

4. Finally, for the apps I can't freeze, but don't want running when the screen is off. Download the app Greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify Use this app to control battery killers like Facebook, etc. When the screen shuts off these apps will not work. As soon as the screen comes on, the apps will work like normal.

These few apps have drastically improved my battery life. I can literally leave my phone off the charger overnight, and lose maybe 2% at most. Will do a test when I get home, and post a screen shot.

Hope this helps.
