Root Battery Pull to HBOOT procedure????

I see people saying if you pull the battery, that will get you into HBOOT.

Maybe this is just a stupid question, but I'm a little confused....

I want to flash a GB ROM and then flash the new MR2 radio that just came out. So through CWR I will flash the ROM, then when it's done do I just pull the battery, put it back in, power up the phone, and it should take me straight to HBOOT? No holding down of any buttons?

while phone is off (i've normally just recently pulled battery)
hold power and volume down until you get into hboot
