Root Best prl so far?

3g should always be faster than 1x.... on the phone with a complete idiot of a developer for metro. says that the admire isnt even a 3g capable phone... cant fix stupid i suppose

If that's the case, Metro owes me a shitload of money for their 3G upcharge.

...and after getting off the phone with Metro tech support, I was told the PRL version really doesn't matter much. Updates are nice, but nothing much really changes.

well how did you end up with your p r l is it any better or did you find 1 that works better

I don't get it why don't you guys just leave the PRLs alone I've flashed all of them and honestly never really noticed a difference i mean you may get a little better result with older prls but what's the point? I mean metro gives us the update so why just downgrade it I'm currently PRL 3028 and it's damn near been the same for me as far as speed results so i stopped using QPST to flash another it's just an recommendation let metro handle the horrible 3G speeds but i will just update whenever they come out with a new PRL just because flashing is point especially with metro we just get bad speeds all 90% of the time

This, but with punctuation.

Well, just because you don't do it doesn't mean you should reccomend for others to try and make their phones speeds faster. I for one want to get the most out of my phone , by doing anything i can. My U/L 890kbps D/L 1350, ping 85-170

Actually i do, i just didn't notice any chances lol. But that's me & that's good for you i wish i got 3G speeds like that honestly

And Retro what were all the methods you used? Because besides the QPST program I've tried those codes as well. Is there anything else you've done to your phone?

I've Ben wondering how to Max your 3g speed?? does any body know? because its getting anyone how 3g only works when it wants to and seem to get only 1 bar when it does work

Hi, it looks like a few days since y'all were talking about this but I came across this thread when I was looking for at what speed did it change from 1xRTT to 3G. My Admire is rooted but still has the stock ROM. I have to wait for a roommate to be home & not in a pissy mood to tether the "house" computer. (I cracked the screen on my laptop)
Anyway, I updated to the 3028 prl last week & to be honest I haven't noticed a difference since I bought the phone the first part of Jan. I didn't root right away, I really didn't know much about it because I didn't need to, I was satisfied with my service. Then I had to downgrade & boy have I learned! Ok, so I've done all the build prop tweaks, I've moved all my apps to my sd card using android assistant. I use that asp several times a day to clear cache & give a system boost, thinking if I keep it clean maybe I will get better performance........HA! So, I'm in Saginaw, Tx which is basically Ft Worth. I have the same problem as most with it jumping in & out of 1x & 3G. A lot of the time I have only 1 or no signal bars & zip along. Yesterday, my signal was so horrible I couldn't do squat, no web pages loaded, dropped calls & text wouldn't go through. At 0230 I was messing around with it & I did a speed test using speed.net I had a ping of 115ms download 140kbps upload 47. I did another one a few hours ago & had a ping of 104, download 181,.upload 114. I almost had a heart attack on that 181 download since I'm.normally below 100. Oh & the nearest server to me is 12.77 km. So right before I came here I checked things out on the Sensorly app. It was giving me signal ranging from.-96dBm to -101. Them there is a section where you can check the signal to the.places around you. Even though on the coverage map it has us in 3G area, every place I checked said MetrPCS 1x is terrible with 1/4 bar. So, obviously I'm living in a yuk spot. (soon moving) Two miles down the road my phone works great. My question is if I put a custom ROM on will that help my speed? I don't see how it will. I don't think until we can overclock will we see steady 3G speeds. That is my next question, what is the speed where it stops being 1xRTT & hours to 3G. Why is metro being big fat liars putting that 3G symbol in the status bar when you aren't in 3G? Sorry this was so long, I just get carried away sometimes.

Anna

We can overclock and we DO have 3G

Really? You can overclock? On what kernel? I've searched every forum to find a custom kernel & I keep reading that no one is working on one. You aren't overclocking on the stock kernel.

Did you read my post? Did I say no one had 3G service? When you first got your phone before you rooted and tweaked you didn't have real 3G service. Even though sometimes it might have said 3G in your status bar. This phone is a 1xRTT phone & I do know those aren't 3G speeds. My queston was at what speed did it qualify as 3G? My phone says it's in 3G all the time & did you see the speeds I posted? Does that look like 3G speed to you? I think not.

Ok, when I'm wrong about something I will admit it. I swear it's only been about 2 weeks ago when I searched last about overclocking & didn't see anything about stock++ which will overclock to 900. I'll just google my other question like I should have to begin with.

Can anyone tell me how the prl and overclocking are related,?

The prefered roaming list is relevant to the tower system of the carriers network. Overclocking refers to the processor speed of our ARM6 processor speed. The modem in our phone has its own Hardware and Software commands controlling it. The processor speed has very little to do with the modem signal.

Think about it, If you want a faster modem or wireless adapter with your computer you have to get a better one.

DON'T DO THE FOLLOWING !!!!! :congrats:

The only Modem software upgrade was samsungs 2.3.6 release.
This has crashed a lot of phones and is not worth IT.
:stickyman:
viperdink out!

I do need to change my profile as I did have 2.3.6. & went back to 2.3.4 . I was just thinking if I boosted the over all performance of this phone I would not only have faster speeds, but more fluid connectivity. I've seen a lot on the Admire forum where people say things like, if you wanted a faster better phone, you shouldn't have bought an Admire. Well thanks to brain cancer & never ending medical bills I had to downgrade. So, if there are any tweaks & fixes I can do to help improve my crappy service then I'm going to try and when I start asking questions if I get a little off topic I apologize, that is the way my brain works now. It's easy for me to just blurt everything out, whether I'm talking or typing.

Let me just lay this down for you dude. Metro is a budget service. If you don't have a decent enough cash flow or credit card access, you use Metro. The 3G we have is not very good granted, but it isn't 1X. You should definitely not be using 2.3.6 there are just loads of problems with it.

Let me just lay, it down for you dude. I'm not a dude. Anna isn't one of those unisex names. I'm getting really frustrated because I feel you just skim over what I write and don't actually read it. Did you not see me say I needed to change the 2.3.6 in my profile because I had already went back to 2.3.4? I also don't need a lecture in what I can afford to pay for in phone service. Get brain cancer in your right frontal lobe where so much of your memory and thought processes occur & then you have the right to say something. Ok?
Now, I basically was trying to a ask where 1xRTT speeds changed into 3G speeds. I know a lot of times my phone says it's in 3G when it obviously isn't. Perhaps I posted in the wrong thread. I'm far from dumb, but sometimes I will know something and can't quite think of the sequence of how it's done. Like maybe posting in the wrong place. Instead of discriminating you could always say, anna, your brain is misfiring again & you are in the wrong place. I didn't say 1xRTT was 1x, I just said it wasn't true 3G. After googling it, like I now wish I had done in the first place, I can tell you that unless you are getting speeds of 2 megabit/second you are not getting true CDMA3G speed. While it is sometimes referred to as 3G it falls short of the speed requirement and is actually classified as 2.5.

You know, I'm a really nice person but when I feel like I'm made out to be stupid, I get really defensive. I have built computers and servers since the 90s. I will admit this is the first phone I've ever felt the need to treak. I was always able to afford good service and good phones,

Anna, the dudette

PRL Mbps-down

3020 .8 //Unstable(.6 - 1.05)
3022 .12 //No 3G Connection
3023 .9 //Unstable(.7 - 1.9)
3024 .44
3025 .75 //Unstable (.6 - 1.0)
3026 1.17 //Unstable (.6 - 1.4)
3027 .66
3028 .6 //Unstable (.4-.7)

This is in the Pinellas County area. To be fair, all of these connections are unstable, but I'm choosing to use 3023 because I occasionally get higher speeds

Damn you have so much time to do those PRLs. i Get at least 300KBPS Max on Automatic Data, and whats amazing is that my whole area is covered by 4g, and i live next to a cell tower (2 blocks..)

My speed tests. Since most PRLs are unstable, i try it once, and delete the result (Since they are so slow, and the second one will count, so the network kinda knows im using it and trying to 'heat it' up.)
Also, all of these, at least for me are unstable. 3028 had GREAT speeds, but at first test was unstable. 3025, on the other hand, blasted(started.. with a great 500kbps.)

3020- Laughable results. 1x. 89 d/l, 162 Up.
(3g from 3022 to latest prl) 3022 - 346 dl, 230 up
3023-343 dl, 335 up
3024- 357 dl, 235 up.
3025 (AMAZING) - 626 dl, 366 up.
3026 - 493dl, 267 up.
3027 - 245 dl, 315 up.
3028 (Best one out of all PRLS in terms of speed, though Kinda unstable.) 689 dl, 479 up.

all are unstable for me except 3025, 3026 and 3028

This was done at a north newjersey area
