black friday prices

So I am in the following situation: I am 7 months into my ATT contract and have a Skyrocket. I want a Note2 from either ATT or VZW.

My options are
a) pay $245 ETF to ATT and buy VZW Note2 for $318 new 2-year contract price.
b) pay $250 to ATT for "early upgrade" and then buy ATT Note2 for $318 renewing a 2-year contract with ATT.

There are some pros/cons for using the various carriers. VZW could give me better service but ATT will allow me to swap sims w/ an adapter with my Skyrocket.

But now there is the Black Friday coming up and I wonder if maybe I can get a better deal. It seems like VZW is purposely putting out the Note2 later so that they avoid Black Friday... but ATT might lower prices...

Any idea whether ATT will change prices? Any idea whether I may be able to purchase the Note2 from ATT on the 9th and then if they drop their prices on the 23rd be able to easily recoup the difference?

How old is your account with AT&T? Is this the first contract you've had with them?

If you call up and talk to them nicely, they will usually let you upgrade early. My upgrade wasn't until 1/23/13 but they allowed me to get the note 2, but (thankfully!!!!) my mom opened her AT&T account in 1993, and we have had the same account ever since...so if you have been a customer with them for a long time, use it as leverage.

This is my first account with them... I think sadly the only thing I can do is threaten to leave and go to VZW in an attempt to have them drop the early upgrade fee.

nope!! what you should do is gtfo of that contract asap! buy full price unlocked international, or from tmobile full price and have it unlocked the day you have the phone in your hands!!use straighttalk, simple mobile,or whatever else works,,,just research and ask questions on the forums

I sincerely doubt AT&T would lower the prices on the Note 2 seeing as how it would have launched for only a couple weeks at that time. What they might do it sweeten the deal with a free accessory or something like that. Despite the initial success of the Note, the Note 2 is still in probation period where the other carriers are still seeing if this is a good money maker for them. Unlike the SIII, the Note 2 still has a ways to go in terms of popularity. Ultimately, it boils down to service. Personally, I despise AT&T in their entirety and only stick with them since I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan. The moment they shaft me on that, I'm heading over to VZ as their service is far superior in the DC Metro area.

so i got a pretty good deal through ATT. They are giving me then note2 (in white) for $350 with a new 2-year contract renewal.

i got this by calling customer service.

one of the reasons i like ATT is because it lets me swap sims, and also the failover from lte to hspda is seamless unlike on cdma based phones. i've had the skyrocket for 7 months and its has been my first experience on ATT. i've actually been impressed with the service in the DC metro area compared to the horror stories i've heard. then again... i don't work in the basement of some government building.

the whites are not even in there system at least that is what i was told and the note is $299 hows that a deal?

AT&T let me upgrade early as well with no fee but I've been a customer since 2004. Call AT&T support, not the store, and see what they say? It can't hurt...

@bucsfan

if you read above in my post you will see that I have been only 7 months into my 2-year contract so I was facing either a no-contract price, or a $250 early upgrade fee (on top of the new 2-year price), or a $245 ETF fee.

therefore, an extra $50 on top of a 2-year contract price is a sweet deal.
